Yeah it was the live broadcast.

Doesn't look like anything different... not sure what the deal is. I guess we'll see once some tech details come out

Tech is out
http://www.monster.ducati.com/M795.html

Looks to be a 696 with a bigger engine. DSS, 3 Spoke wheels, similar or same suspension (didn't side-by-side the tech tables)

Yeah... nothing really new here. Just a model targeted at the asian market - so the site says. But I don't understand it... why not just a 696.

796 has a higher seat height iirc, perhaps that's the reason?

Ok so how does a 796 motor in a 696 chasis make the bike "tailor-made for Asia"Huh?

http://www.monster.ducati.com/M795_tech-spec.html

AFAIK, the 796 was launched in Japan in September 2010, and the 696 back in 2008, and I know for a fact that both bikes have also been launched in other Asian countries...

Tailor made probably means that a lot of people there want an 800cc small bike.

I mean, it's no stereotype that asians tend to be shorter folks.  So they took their shortest bike and uprated the engine.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

They could have spent the marketing dollars into non expanded tanks.  Nothing exciting IMO.

yeah, nothing exciting, but think of this way...

if they capture even a small percentage of the asian market share, thats what will wind up funding the R&D on non expanding tanks.
