Hi, last night I started my bike to go home, warmed it up as usually, and when I was ready to go....

I accelerated and a few feet after, the bike will loose power and the red lights on the dashboard (only 2 of them the left and right ones) came on.  I was not able to drive the bike over 10mph !!

I suspected it was the DTC (the red lights indicate DTC is ON)  so I turned it off and the problem was gone. I tried turning the DTC on again and it will fail in every one of the 4 settings.
I was able to drive home with the DTC off.  However, now I have a broken bike.

I already made an appointment with the dealer for next week. Nevertheless, wanted to know if anyone had experience similar issues.

No problems so far, how many miles have you got on the bike?  So far I have put a little over 2,000 miles with no problems (knock on wood).  Good luck and let us know what the dealer finds.  Thanks

DTC measures the differences in speed between the front and rear wheel right? sSo why dont you check the sensors at the wheels so see if they are loose and the connectors are secure.

Were that the case, I'd expect he'd have an ABS fault/malfunction as well. My $0.05 is still on a duff DTC ECM and/or connector at that ECM.

Everything seems okay with the sensors (visually), it is probably a defective DCT controller.
It was working perfectly fine before, and suddenly it was not.
I will let you know what the dealer finds.

My bike and my friend's bike suffer from the same problem, it already happened to me several times.
The only thing you can do to resolve the problem is to turn the power off and back on.
The problem seems to exist only on LEVEL 4, because it never happened again once I changed the DTC intervention to LEVEL 3.

Hope this info helps and that Ducati will release a fix soon.

What LEVEL is your bike on for DTC? Because I believe that the problem only happens when it is set to '4'

Mau

I tried all 4 levels.  I actually still have the problem, so cant ride the bike while DTC is on at any level.

is good to know others had the same issue.  Do you guys fixed? took it to the dealer?

godudi

So I guess it's not the same problem. In our case the symptoms are the same but DTC works fine after you cycle the power.

I just realized my DTC is working fine today.  When I first had this issue, I did not turned the bike off, I only switched the DTC ON and OFF several times.  From Godudi's comment above, It seems this is not an isolated problem but one that affects many.

Any one with this issue has gone to a dealer to have it check?  I am curious if they can diagnostic this failure since it only happens sometimes randomly.  This is for sure an issue that I want to take care of before my warranty expires and I have to face an obscene amount $$$$$ for a new DTC unit.

Any comments or advice on how to deal with this situation is appreciated.

I believe this is a SW related problem, a SW bug that will be fixed one day or another..in the meantime you can try to change the level of your DTC from 4 to 3. For me it never happened again since I changed it.

Wether it is a software or hardware issue.  It will not be fixed unless enough people bring the issue up to Ducati.

I would like to be optimistic and think this issue will not become a bigger one (complete failure of DTC) at a  later time.  Nevertheless, I would rather be proactive and try to address it now. I will bring it up to my dealer so they are informed and document the issue.  If you have not done so, I would suggest you do it as ignoring the issue will defnitively not fix it.

Let me know how I can I assist you other than asking my dealer to contact Ducati about this issue..We have a small market here and I don't think that we will be heard..However I can provide you with our names and frame numbers if that could help..
I like your proactive attitude, I just don't have the strength to deal with my dealer :)

I will write a letter to Ducati NA explaining the situation. If you want, PM me your name and VIN and I will include you on it. I hope this will serve to help finding a solution to the problem but also to establish a precedent in case of a future related issue.

Anyone else with this problem is welcome to send me their info.

PS: If anyone has the DDA module, I guess they could record all the information while this issue is happening and output a file that can be shared with Ducati.  I am assumig the DDA will be able to record that the DTC is not working properly since it kicks on at about 10mph all the time.

So today it happened again, this time on level '3'.
