Cold start problem

My bike has been having cold start issues. The situation is as follows:  I turn the key on, gauges sweep as normal, adjust the idle lever and push the start button. The bike turns over once and then stops. Gauges turn off and resweep and repeat procedure and bike starts as normal.  Only happens when cold. Tried taking switch apart and cleaning but the problem persists. When bike is warm/hot, this issue doesn't exist. Any ideas?  Thank you. Bike is an 07 S2R 800.

It sounds like you have a weak connection on a cable somewhere, or possibly the battery is reaching the end of it's life.

My 96 900 has real trouble when the temps dip.

Many people solve the problem by upgrading battery cables.

Before upgrading the battery cables, how would I check the battery? Thanks.

Take it to autozone or any box store that sells batteries.

Most will test them for free.

Cleaned the starter relay contacts but no success. I'm planning on load Reston the battery today and cleaning the contact on the starter itself. Here's a link to what it's doing:

when my battery was crapping out, mine would do that. unlike a carbed bike if the ECU isnt getting enough voltage it will just shut off and once the load is off the batt it turns back on. on a full charge my bad battery was dipping down to 8 volts while cranking.

I just got the battery load tested and here are the results:

Out of spec much? Would this be the culprit of my issues?  I have a AntiGravity battery available to me tomorrow but would anything else be causing this?

What is the battery rated at?

Sounds like the battery is at half cca capacity to me.

That was my interpretation too.  Would this be causing this issue?

Seeing as the voltage is in spec, I'm going to guess old age.

Right, but would the extremely low CCA be causing the issue I've been having?

The cold cranking amp rating is the indicator of how the motor will crank when both it and the battery are cold.

It matches perfectly IMO.

Just making sure.  Antigravity battery it is tomorrow.  Thanks.
