Grab your  [popcorn] [popcorn] [popcorn]!!

Yesterday's CAM newb was a spectacular time. Thought I'd post some of the video. Here's the first installment during which I redecorated the cheap side of the Daytona. [bang]

Bike is a little roughed up cosmetically on the cockpit fairing and the tail fairing has a shaved spot on the corner. The frame slider and swingwarm spool mostly did their job, but the left engine case ended up with some gouges.

Otherwise, my gear did it's job so I'm ok. Spent some time at urgent care this morning to rule out a foot fracture. Still not sure how I hurt the right foot given I went down on the left side, but that mother hurts!

glad you are okay....did you touch the front brake a lil more or were trailbraking a lil too long when you added the additional turning input to make it give? ( basing off the speedo reading and deceleration before the front tucked)...and your right foot probably got slammed into the peg when you went down in some way, as a plausible explanation

So is that what east coast riding is about?  Maybe it's a good thing I don't have a bike right now  ;D

Oh, and glad yer ok  [thumbsup]

glad to hear you're ok Jim.  Does this mean that the S2R1K will be your main squeeze again?

We untweaked the forks (hopefully) in the garage before the PM ride and all seemed well other than some rash. How's the shoulder and chest feeling Jim?

BTW, getting a knee down doesnt usually involve the entire left side of your body making contact...
Every time I meet a new group of your friends that understand you and your weird sense of humor I'm a little more amazed that there are other people in the world like you that lived through childhood - My loving girlfriend

probably trail braking too long/much combined with a perfect storm of cool weather, intermittent rain, and a front tire at the wear bars. I'd planned to replace the tire in the next couple of weeks, but thought it'd be ok for a bit longer.

I'd blame it on DRKWNG, but he wasn't even there.  ;D  You should definitely get this no bike thing sorted out soon!

Nah, just means there's 3 uglies in the mix: the S2R, the 675 and me. ;D The bike is fine, some cosmetic scrapes, but nothing serious. Rode the rest of the way to Balmer and then for a bit with Artful, Lars and BikePilot before heading home in the snow from the Arctic Circle. Already trolling the intarwebz for replacement parts...

PS A special thanks to Ted and Josh with moral support from Lars for helping me sort out the tweaked steering so I could ride with the clipons equidistant from myself.

But I saw the new supermoto craze of dragging handlebars and figured I'd give it a try on the Daytona. Forks are good I think. Chest and shoulder are good to go (well maybe shoulder is a bit tender but better than yesterday), but the foot sucks...not broken, just a hella sprain.

Bummer Jim.

That day was a perfect storm sorta day with the weather. Also, traffic circles are trickier than you'd might think.  Walk one on foot one time, you'll see a lot of oil and diesel slop.

I hope you're feeling better.

Trailbraking in the cold / wet navigating a traffic circle? I thought it was supposed to be a newb ride? Oh wait...

Sorry to hear about the foot, but glad the rest of you is doing well  [thumbsup]

Watching the video it looks like the front wheel bounced off the curb, I hadn't realized that before.  It may be worth putting a straight-edge against the forks to make sure all is straight -- I suspect it is, but curbs can be nasty.

From the vid it also looks like you went into the corner considerably faster than did Lars and I (admittedly its difficult to compare speed from a vid to what it felt like from atop the buell-couch).  Anyway, I had a great time riding with y'all  ;D

Posting by phone and having wine, (I'll watch vid tomorrow), but if we (collectively as a group) have anyone crash on the street, especially under a "newbie ride" sort of title, let's get together over beers and figure out what we should do in terms of track classes together and/or changing the group street rides.

I'd like cam to be the best riders around and welcoming of any level riders to get better and encourage new folks.

It's still buy a flounder a drink month

I don't disagree with this thought at all...I think one thing was maybe perhaps forgotten in the whole deal perhaps, and that may well be due to personalities/persons who were engaged in the ride, the presence of a feeling/being of an elevated experience level worthy of raising the pace from "newb" to something more...but I am purely speculating from an outside stand point without having been there...

Yeah, seeing the names that were most responsive on that thread, I think it shift from newb to something more than that.

But since I wasn't there, I'm just arm-chairing here.
