Generally how expensive a fix is this?

I hadn't been on my bike in a couple of weeks and the leak def wasn't there last time I rode.  She's been leaking in the garage for 2-3 weeks now.

Shouldn't be too expensive for the parts, you can replace them yourself...

Update:  Ok I lied, apparently it IS pretty spendy for the the seal kit:

PN:  349.1.246.1A  @ ~$85 each (and you need one set for each fork, not sure if both are leaking).  But depending on age might be covered under warranty...

If you search the forums you should be able to find a comparable replacement for much less.  I recently recall a post regarding fork seals which might fit your 696 from a Japanese bike.  It may have been on the UK "ducatisti" site (not sure).  I had no idea the dealer part was $85.00!  For that much, the seal should outlast the bike!

Do inspect the slider for nicks and scratches.

I inspected the slider, not marks I can see or feel.

I did the business card trick on the fork seal and it seems to have worked (for now) my dealer found me new seals for $13 each vs. the $90 each Ducati wants.

Ordered and set and I'll have the forks rebuilt over the winter (2 hrs labour according to the dealer).

Not too bad a hit I guess.

I only have a couple of rides left this season anyways.

Keep in mind, the PN I quoted is a "rebuild/overhaul" kit and has multiple seals/parts- not just "seal"....

Yes, I was told the $13 kits include all the same parts as the Ducati $90 kits.  I've no reason not to trust my dealer.  They're the biggest Ducati dealer in Canada as far as I know.

Ok- just making sure, wasn't suggesting your dealer was steering you wrong...
