well, Ive been patiently trying to get use to the bars on my Monster and I have come to the conclusion that I HAVE to do something about these bars... the reach is not a problem at all...its the pressure on my wrists that is making it pretty painful.

Our mechanic is telling me there is not enough slack in the cables to raise them enough to make a difference.

Has anyone come up with a suitable answer to this problem ?

Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated !

Thanks

You could try a bar that has more sweep back like Rizoma.

This fits no issue with your 796 clamp/riser. http://www.motovationusa.com/mvstore/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=562 I have it on mine and would still like another 20mm of rise, only nobody makes that. My tech says 20mm more still no issue if he reroutes the cables slightly. I got the silver which looks stock only nicer.

According to Monsterparts, this bar has 5/8" more rise and 2" of sweep. No complaints about the wrist angle. http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/MA005/Bars-Mirrors/MA005.html

Good Luck!

You could try a bar that has me sweep back like Rizoma.

I had the rizoma bars an my 1100s didn't care for them. You can rotate them so they are higher than stock and they do sweep back more. I couldn't find a position that worked for me. The best position I found was at an angle were they fit into the tank cut outs. In this position I had to adjust the steering stops out and lose lock to lock distance, which is not that great to begin with.

I ended up with clipons. Woodcraft with 2 1/2'' rise. I didn't think I'd like them because I thought I would be more comfortable with higher more swept back bars, but I wasn't. The woodcrafts are slightly lower than stock and a little more swept back. They work perfect for me.

Let us know what you end up with. It might take a few different setups to find what works for you.  waytogo

I don't have any suggestions, but if you get a new setup and you want to sell your stock riser/bar I may be your guy. I hate the bars on my 696 , but like the 796 setup  Dolph

Try rizoma bar risers, and with 796 you probably do not have to get the bar . With my 696 I had to get the whole new bar and risers, because 696 bars are not tapered so just bar risers wouldn't work ( or that is what my dealer told me ).

Incorrect. The 796 has a tapered bar riser which is already 20mm taller than a 1100 evo or for that matter your 696. Her problem is her wrists. Did you read what she wrote? "the reach is not a problem at all...its the pressure on my wrists that is making it pretty painful." The sweep on the Rizoma will help a lot with this issue and give a tiny bit more rise as well.
