Arrow exhaust then "check engine" light.

So, I just installed a set of Arrow slip-ons on my 796. After starting the bike with db killers in, I decided that it needed to be LOUDER so I removed the db killers and took of to work. I rode about 20 miles with the biggest grin I've had since I bought the beast. After 11 hours at work I geared up and started the bike. It did not want to start at all at first. After several attempts to start if finally started and then died. After another try it started and idled fine until I finished suiting up and started to leave. Once I got on the highway the "check engine" light came on and stayed. Aside from not wanting to start the bike ran fine and idled at stop lights without a problem. I got home and the light was still on. I stopped the engine turned of the key and then re-started the engine. No light. I only let it run for a few seconds though as it was nearly 4 am and I'm sure my neighbors are not ready to wake up for work yet.
I assume the light came on because the ECU is freaking out over the awesomeness of the exhaust note coming from the pipes.
Seriously though, I'm not sure what to think. The bike started fine and ran fine after the install. Now all of a suddden it does not want to start and the check engine light comes on. WTF!??! Could it be because the temp outside dropped from 75*F to 48*F? It rained too. My guess is the computer is confused by the change and needs a reset, or I need to reinstall the db killers. I hope that I don't need a tune to run without the db killers. I would be more than happy to have an excuse to buy a Bazzaz system, but I just dumped money on the pipes as well as some parts for my dirt bike. I just don't think my wife will be cool with it.
Anyone have any clue or run into the same problem?

I had the same issue with my current system. It doesn't like cold with the new pipes and definitely doesn't like no db killers. I am thinking the O2 sensors are getting wierd readings. probably needs a tune with a Powercommander V

Thats interesting.... I never had any issues with Termi slip-on cans with the baffles removed.
Could the openness of the cans be allowing moisture ingress?
Or could it be that the lambdas are reporting "lean".... "
still
bloody lean mate".... beyond the stock ECUs closed loop fuelling-up parameters? If so... you'd be running pretty damn lean (way leaner than 14.7:1).

when my bike is cold it still has minor issues with it.
I still haven't put the PC V on yet.
I will have to figure out a cold sensor switch for the PC V. There is an analog signal input into the PC V for this. Just need to take the temp sensor line I think.

You're going to think I'm crazy, but check to make sure a connection from your tail-chop kit isn't grounding out somewhere. I can't imagine that Arrow slipons are causing your problem. I've seen numerous threads on "my check engine light is coming on for some unknown reason" that turns out be be a ground from a tail-chop connection.

What CEL code was it throwing? You should be able to check by clicking up on guage controls when cel light is on....
When I went to pod filters and my open exhaust I was getting a lambda error code(o2 sensors).... Code went away when I flashed ecu and got rid of them...
My guess is that bike was running so lean that o2 sensors were going haywire and didn't know what was happening.
This problem also started only after bike had been running for awhile. This was because it takes awhile for 02 sensors to heat up and turn on....
I would say, if bike starts up fine and rides fine initially, but then after a few minutes you are getting the error code, it is probably an issue with o2 sensors...

Yep, sure can....
That's how I knew what codes I was getting during my tuning issues...
If you look in the owners manual it has a list of all the cel errors and what they mean...

Well, I went to and from work today with no check engine light. Bike runs great and sounds beastly. I'm still not sure what went on yesterday that caused the check engine light and the bike to not want to start. It was cold ( cold to me is <50* F) again tonight and the bike started right up. It did not come up to temp for a long time though. I was almost home (15miles or so) before it showed the third bar, which is where it normally runs. I'm clueless. I really thought I had a serious issue on my hands. I'm glad that all is well but I'd still like to know what went on. I wish I would have known that I could have read the trouble code.
