Hi   :)    I was wandering if it was OK to leave my Duc outside in the winter.....  I Know that it's better to find a place indoors but I was just looking at all the options

I'm living in Canada so theres gonna be snow an cold temperatures.....  ( -30 degres Celsius)

We leave cars outside all the time why not a bike??? [Dolph]

Lack of space to put it is my problem...  I've callled some family but  no place to put it and I'm now running out of option's.   I could always pay to store it but I a little short of the 300$ that it cost's to do that.

I'm not worried by the motor but more about all the hose's and electrical stuff that on it ( battery and ignition unit's would be remove for the winter)

abby normal

Put a cover on it and check it every few days for rats and spiders.

you can bring it down to Michigan and keep it in my basement next to mine

Take the battery indoors for the winter.  If the battery looses it's charge it will freeze.  Nobody offers winter storage for motorcycles up in Canada?

Bonjour!

Neige et moto egale connerie!

How much snow do you get?

If you leave it covered on the kickstand and snow drifts onto it, it will knock over.

Get a rear stand.  A good heavy one.  Do you have a DSS or SSS rear?  The SSS stands go thru the axle and are rock steady.

The problem with cold is that the tire will harden and the patch touching the ground will stay that way.. i.e. "flat spot" on the tire.

Remove the battery.

Put some anti-moth tablets on the engine.  The smell will chase away any opportunistic animals who might like to burrow in.  It will stink up the bike but will blow off after a few days of airing it out.  Stuff something into the tail pipes.

THe cold won't hurt it, but I'd make sure to do the storage prep .. i.e. change the oil, fog the engine, drain the tank (esp if it's a plastic one), remove the battery, slightly over inflate the tires esp the front..

Some of the heavier covers have a drawstring at the bottom so you can seal it up pretty tightly, esp with a rear stand.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

-30 Celsius? Check ur fluids. They might actually freeze. Also I'd probably remove the wheels and bring them in. That's way too cold for the rubber I think.
you guys don't have storage warehouses?  My friend paid 50 a month for one and hist did that.

btw, your signature says... Well, let me not blow your spot up. Just saying. Lol

tanks but the trip over there would cost me more than the storage (300$)

tanks ducatiz   :)  Has always, you give god advice  [thumbsup]

I'll get about 6 feet of snow (Montreal -Canada)....lol  so it will be berried ...lol  ;D

I tough that in the winter the fuel tank always add to be full to prevent rust?

so to recap ;
-put out the battery and ignition unit's
-overinflate the tires so they don't have a "flat spot"
-Put it on a god rearstand
-Stuff the exhaust pipes
-check for cute Little rats and spider's
-grease the chain a lot ( I guess)
-put a cover over the bike
-and fill up the fuel tank or drain it ????
