Well... thinking hard now...

About getting rid of the S2R....
I have both Ducati Charlotte and Myers working their arses off trying to put me on a new 848...
I know... naked is better... but the 848 is just what I have been waiting on from them...and been thinking about it for quite some time...
for less than 50 bucks more a month than the s2r... why not right?

make the beast with two backs dude. I love the monsters, but if I could have any bike I wanted, it would be a 1098R or 1098 shortly followed by an 848.
The only thing I don't like about the 848 is the wet clutch. The dry clutch just screams awesome. But you had a wet clutch in your S2R 800, so that's not a big deal for you.
make the beast with two backs it, go for it. Get the 848, but please, let me ride it.
I promise I won't put it under a guard rail.

yeah 1098 was what i started off looking at...
but for a daily comuter, insurance prices, and the price of that bike... i just don't thinkn it would be practicle.
insurance on the 848 is going up 40 bucks every 6 months... for the 1098 it would be 180 bucks. Plus the cheapest standard 1098 is roughly 269 a month (if you have premo credit).

Hmm...if you want a sportbike for the twisties, why not a GSXR750? That would mop-up and 848 and cost less too.

Cause it's a Suzuki GSXR750.

Insufficient reason to disregard is lower cost and greater power, especially if he's gonna track it.
Uro - will you track your new bike?

You, of all people, should know that we don't make bike related decisions based on those criteria.

I agree 100%,
except
in the case of a track bike. If I ever get a track bike, cost of ownership will be -- by necessity -- at the
top
of the list. For me however, the power range of a GSXR600 would be more than sufficient.

I really don't know if I have the time to track it or not. Getting it out there would be fun none the less...
I agree that the GSXR600/750 would eat the 848... but not my reason for wanting it. I love the styling, the looks, the sound, and its a v-twin. The same reason I would get a monstor over any of the naked big four!
I have no valid argument on why I want it and not a 'zuki... other than its just a Ducati... I did play with the idea of a Daytona though... but I just love the Ducs in general.
The new design brings back the Ducati soul I remember with the 916... which to me was the baddest superbike ever designed. The 851 was a sweet ride that led to the 916, and then grew into the 996/8.
The R6/Gixxer600/Ninja 600/CBR600RR all offer a cheaper price tag, and would make great track bikes... but do they have soul when they arn't on the track, or are they ghost sitting in your garage, waiting for the next track day?

get the 848 or 1098
I love the looks of the 848 and 1098. I have convinced myself that the 848 is even a better bike that the 1098. Better everyday street bike, it weighs less and its cheaper.
I am not convinced that the Suzuki can take the Ducati. In a straight line the Suzuki would win but who goes straight.

Well Charlotte has offered me a 1098 at 227. a month... where as Myers has the 848 at 211 a month. Now that being said... insurance will got up 40 dollars for the 848 every 6 months or 180 dollars every 6 months for the 1098....
Now what do I do?
I agree that the 848 would probably be better for an every day drive.

Is the 1098 new or used? If it were me, I'd get the 848 and use the $ I save on accessories (exhaust, etc.). Is the 848 white or red?
