I thought some of you folks might appreciate this:

A landmark birthday approaches for my better half, and I took her out to buy a LONG overdue, new helmet yesterday...

We walked out of the first store with this XR1100 helmet:

AND this Dainese Ladies Jacket:

Hmmm... :o ...then we went to a second store to look for some new summer gloves for ME, and she ended up in the Finance Department discussing deals on THIS!!!!  :o :o :o:

Sheesh...! - and YES, she's going to buy it. So, on the way home, doing the sums in my head, I said:
"thank Christ we didn't go to FRASERS!!!!!!!".... ;D

There endeth the tale.

Oh, and yes - in India the R15 comes with a factory "Sari Guard" - Dead-set truth. And if you don't believe me, check it out on You Tube:

Too funny...

Sounds like you have a strong claim to be the recipient of the next big spend.  [thumbsup] [thumbsup]. When the wallet recuperates that is ;D

WHAT!!

   No Boots?? ?

Seriously though, the helmet, I have the same one, it's very light, comfortable and the vents work very well.

And the landmark birthday, let me guess.

She turns 21  [evil] you lucky bugger  [Dolph]  [beer]  ;)

                                              Mmick
This won't hurt much.... Trust me......

She does need boots! And yes, I'll be getting the XR1100 when I next 'update' my helmet...I think we'll pass on the "Sari-Guard" though..;) HAD to get her the jacket - I think of it as more "bike bling"!  [thumbsup]

If you don't mind me asking, what did ya end up paying for the R15?
Mrs has got something in mind as she goes to do her Ls and has decided that if it's not a monster she wants a "sportier" (looking) bike.

Hi. I’m Troy McClure. You may remember me from such self-help tapes as “Smoke Yourself Thin” and “Get Some Confidence, Stupid!”
NYTimes: "...highlights of his global tour include encounters with Nelson Mandela, an 800-year-old demigod and a dildo collector."

No probs, Wells - I don't mind you asking at all. They are $4,700 INCL on-roads - "ride away". Cheap as chips. They also do Yamaha Finance at 6% (2 years) or 7% (3 years) - i.e. $40 p/w for 3 years at no deposit.  I don't think there's much room to "move" on price on these "entry level" bikes. Haven't bought it YET - we're going to test-ride it tomorrow...

I guess you'd have to ask me in a year if bits are "falling off it"  :-[ - but it IS still a Yamaha (i.e. not a Hyosung  :P), and at that price, I just wouldn't expect TOO much. I reckon it's a great little Learner bike / city commuter. I hate riding (ruining) my S2R in city traffic, and have even been considering something cheap like this myself - for "nipping" around...

My wife used to ride a Duke 600SS years ago and is just getting back into it. Wants a cheap commuter bike that still looks good and ISN'T a scooter! She's opting for this instead of sitting around waiting till she can afford a 796 or Daytona 675 or similar...plus, the seat height of the SS was always a problem for her - it's a safety thing - and she can reach the ground on this baby - and it's LIGHT - about 130kg fueled - which is important for smaller riders...

Maybe somebody who's actually had experience of the R15 could shed a bit more light on the "merits" or otherwise of the bike for us??? Yes, it's entirely made in India - but as my wife points out to me, so was/is the Royal Enfield...!

IMHO, a Monster which is LAMS approved is a bit like sex with a condom... [thumbsdown]

you would be surprised that that there would be room to move

things are tight in sales and if you are going through finance then the dealer gets a kick in the bucket from the finance so you might just find a better deal than if you paid cash

do the ringing around , bargain first service included and discount on any other gear you want to buy
i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.
