Local business board

Hey all,
I was talking to a mate this morning about how their business was fairing at the moment. Luckily for him, he's doing OK.

It got me thinking though that supporting local business and 'family and friends' seems to be a bit of a lost practice - as with good word of mouth if you've had a great experience. You could say that I'm a little effected by the Christmas spirit 

Now this may go nowhere, or it may just help someone out there.

Here's my idea; if you own / run a business that could offer its services to other OzMo members, why not create a directory here on the site? I know I'd be more than happy to funnel my business to another OzMo member, rather than someone I have no association with. I'm thinking of everything from a locksmith, car servicing to plumbing and painting etc. I think there's enough bike related stuff through the site sponsors, although if you do provide a unique service that other members could benefit from, why not list it?

Basic information would probably suffice in any posting, such as;

• Key service / product

• Location that your business is based / or can service

• Best contact method

I do not believe that this should become a channel to market offers or deals as such, just a simple awareness of what you can offer & a way to gain support from your OzMo members. If people are interested in what you can do for them, it is up to them to reach out and deal directly.

If it became a success, perhaps it should be a 'sticky' at the top of the OzMo directory.

Again, this is just an idea & would be up to the 'community' to drive.

Not a bad idea Dan. Might be worth swingin' it by the Flounders first though.

Personally I don't think I have a problem with it ... as you said it is not intended to be a marketting things as such - more for awareness. Might get particularly tricky if someone tries spruiking their own non-sponsoring moto-related business.
