Color tan or black. Holds up better if you spray coat it.
Start from the rear, so the overlaps don't catch dust and dirt.

dont forget that if you ride in the rain, that wrapping the exahust will keep the steel wet and rusting will occur.

It sure does rust your header.

My bike had wrap on it when I bought it. It was crumbling and looked crap, so I took it off. As soon as I did, I wished I'd left it on! Got some new wrap and fixed it back up.

If you're riding after rain, and the wrap gets wet...you often get a cool steam effect off it though. I love pulling up to traffic lights in a small cloud of steam. I've had people try to tell me the bike is on fire...  [laugh]

I was also considering wrapping my pipes but not sure yet. Can anyone post up pictures of their rides so I can get an idea of what it looks like?

I've never understood the desire for exhaust wrapping.  But folks is all different.....

My exhaust just looks like hell so it's a cosmetic thing.

Ceramic coating?  Or is it too pitted?

I wrapped my exhaust because the mufflers have stainless pipes that slide into black (coated) headers.

I can understand it if it's for the heat reduction and you dont want to go for the expense of ceramic coating.

The only other time I've liked them on a bike is on bikes made out to look more retro.

Yep happened to my old set of pipes.  I wouldn't do it again.

Rusted my headers too, but I was able to bead blast them back to a nice finish.

Another Monster owner bought my pipes, blasted and ceramic coated them and they looked real nice.

Skyshadow

what if you painted your pipes before hand, think that would keep out the rust?

Erm, I think you mean heat retention  [thumbsup]

Actually, I still meant heat reduction.  Reduction as reducing the amount of heat felt by the rider from the headers.  Thats the main reason I know of that people wrap their headers for... the performance aspect is one that I doubt can really be measured in any fashion :)
