Yeah, some of us have "proper" cameras.

Rich, that's great who's it with Vodafone, Octupus or the Telstra (expensive)
I'm lining up a black model, hopefully soon.

Matty, had to go with with Optus, only choice when you look at the plans. reasonable data and call caps, all for a reasonable price.
At the Apple store which had the only stock of phones left!!, they had all three carriers connecting,
the Telstra line had NO ONE waiting,
the Vodafone had maybe 10,
and the Optus line started upstairs, then down to ground floor, and went all the way around the inside wall of the shop then continued out the door,
I love it when those Telstra pricks get a rocket, its a shame our country cousins get stung by them when there is no alternative.
On another note, i had to upgrade my iTunes and OS to talk with the phone, and only have a small bandwidth at home.
So I rang Apple, they told me to come into the store, use their free wi-fi, download all the software i need, I know the software is all free, but its not free to actually download it at home, so i think just good service.
I also had a couple of great people helping me work everything out on the laptop, they didn't have to, again just good service.

That's at least partly because Vodafone's marketing people either completely don't understand the iPhone and it's internet capabilities, or because they're morons.
I connected to the cheapest Voda plan, $69/month gets me 250MB of data, 100 free texts, and "$310 of credit". Now 250MB of data isn't enough. _But_, what's _really_ hard to discover from all Voda's promotional material is that excess data is charged at 12c per meg, and it comes off "under the cap", so that $310 of credit represents over 2.5Gig of excess data[1]. Even when I factor in my (low) talk time usage of ~$30/month, that means I can still use 2.3G of excess data plus the 250Meg included without paying any extra. _That_ is, I think, enough...

Hey Big, Agree with what you have to say about the marketing guys, Telcos in general here are still in the 90's as regard data enabled phones
Do you go through a large amount of data on your first gen?
I found out the iPhone seeks out wi-fi networks first before it goes onto 3G or 2G, I have Wi-fi at home and work and the optus Wi-fi in the city, oh and the countless open Wi-fi accounts just walking down the street
, and i determined i wouldn't be using a huge amount of data on 3G.
The Voda deal sounds good, you must be good at finding the needle in a haystack, because i couldn't find the data costs coming out of the cap in the fine print.
I went onto 12 month deal with optus and wanted a slightly cheaper monthly spend which Optus had, $49 250MB and $300 of calls

Some good Apps for the iPhone, but a lot of crap as well, here's one that might be good for us Desmo owners
SignalScope,
expensive at 29.99, but for 4 valve owners who do their own servicing, might be able to do the job of checking frequency for belt tensioning.
Cheaper than other equivalent equipment,
just a thought

Well, I hope it took the $12.99 out of your eWallet to pay for it.
I'm still thinking about getting one....I may go down to the Apple store early Monday morning to hook myself up. And then coffee at Mecca.
