Started her up, let her run for 10 minutes, turned her off and reconnected the battery tender!

Nothing - as it is at the mechanic having its 'I don't want to start' issues beaten out of it! Pity, as this arrived yesterday:
The battery weighs the tiniest smidgin over 1kg. I thought I had only received the charger when I picked up the package.

Hmm interesting coincidence Stephen. Today it was my turn to take the bike in for a service ... went out to the bike, turned the key and click ... click ... click. Luckily we had a spare Shorai ready to go in, started without a problem.
S'pose it would only be fair to send the old battery out with a word of thanks. It has been in there since new ... so about 9 years - and never been on a charger, never needed a second hit on the starter button. Pretty happy with that - hope the new-wish one can match that.

I don't think it was the battery. I assume it was new - the bike was 5 years old but only had 5000k, when I bought it - it showed 12.5V on the display. Something went "bang" while I was riding and then the engine sounded odd. It will turn over, but only with the throttle wide open. I was at work so didn't have time to get the diagnosis from the mechanic. I'm still flabbergasted by how light the Shorai is. It was on my upgrade list before the bike went South on me.
Next up is the new 14T front sprocket I'm waiting on.

Interesting coincidence Stephen - yesterday it was my turn to take a bike in for a service. Walked out to the bike, turned the key, hit the starter ... click, click, click.
OK it had been a few weeks since I had the bike out but it was a bit of a surprise ... only got 9 years out of that stock battery. Luckily we had a spare Shorai on the bench, so it went in and everything started without a problem.
I have to give credit to the old battery though. Had been in since new, never been on a charger or tender ... bike always started first press of the button. Hopefully the new-ish one provides similar service.

Have you noticed the weight difference, on the bike? I gather that given how high the batter sits it would make a big improvement. Any issues installing it? I haven't lifted the tank before so will need to do some research (or just get it put in at the workshop).

You may be unfamiliar with my role in mechanical procedures ... I am only allowed to hold the tank up. The Boss does all the real work.
Can I notice the weight difference on the bike ... no ... but I am completely insensitive to these things. Didn't notice lighter wheels, don't notice the world's second heaviest seat, don't notice the difference between tyre changes. I can notice differences from one bike to another but weight is not one of them ... maybe I just don't ride well enough.
In terms of the installation I can only assume that things would be similar for the 'tweenie generation of Monster because ours are all old-style. For the Boss it is quick and easy (I don't even get tired holding the tank up).
Terminals are in the same (relative position) but the smaller size is the factor - the Shorai should come with a variety of different sized packing foams. Pick as many as you need to pack-out your battery box to hold the little fella in the correct position and you should be ready to go in no time.

What's the go there? Perry won't even hold my tank up. Not that I've been doing any work on my poor neglected bike. I've been covering my duc in sawdust lately, as I build myself a boat (as you do).
This morning we hit a roo in the pug. Bloody thing was mid-hop and hit the middle of the windscreen. This is where I'm really glad we have one of those fancy pedestrian safe cars with the steeply sloping windscreen, 'cos he slid straight up, over the roof, and kept on bouncing off into the bushes.
Oh, he left the contents of his bladder on the windscreen, but that's no biggie.

Apologies for the sort of double post earlier - new technology seems to have had the better of me again.
