Gave this to the mechanic to fit:
.
I'm hoping that, along with the lightweight battery, I will notice the difference. To be honest I will be grateful to be back on the road after the bike got stroppy on me last week.

Went for a spin round the Ring Road. Was a struggle to get it going though.
I put in a new battery, cleaned the plugs and yet she was not playing nice. Maybe she's hacked that she's been stuck in the shed for 9 weeks.
Anyway got her going, but she was running rough under 3K. I wonder if 9 week old 98ron was getting a bit on the nose. Anyway she cleared out after a bit of a run, but it's still not quite right.
I also reckon there's something a bit dicky with the starter switch. Pulled up at a mate's place down the road, turned her off to say g'day. Went to start her, finger on the button, nada! Tried again, nada. I checked I was indeed in neutral, side stand up etc, etc, nada.
Waited a few seconds, hit the button again, fires up. I'll pull apart the switch for a lookie and clean and see how that goes.
Still awesome to be out on the road after a few months without a ride though!

Yeah, I'd clean up the various connections, spray a bit of WD40 around and change the fuel. I drained fuel out of a VFR750 that was a few months old and it had turned brown. The tank was clean and rust free inside (cleanest tank I've seen on a bike that old), but the fuel was cloudy/brown. It was 98 RON.
The fuel had clagged up the carbs, causing some float needles to leak and one to be glued shut.
Maybe fresh fuel, some injector cleaner and a good "Italian tune up".

Tank drained! Fuel wasn't brown, but it certainly could have been far less than fresh!
Injector cleaner added plus fresh fuel. Starter switch sprayed with RP7.
I'll see how she goes tomorrow if I get time for a ride.

Installed Oggy axle knobs. Took me longer to get them out of the wrapper than putting them in!
The "body" knobs will have to wait until I can get hold of a jack.
A question for those who have installed them, did your engine drop when you took the bolt out?

Lifted the tank to put the old battery tender on so I could reconnect my USB port. Not a big job, but I'm proud that I didn't kill myself or the bike.

If it did it was imperceptible. Your knob bolt should be used to force the engine bolt out, so one replaces the other ... there isn't really an opportunity so long as the engine is supported from below to take the weight.

The trick is to do them one at a time
Otherwise you could hurt your foot.

Yeah, as Betty said, if the engine is dropping you're doing it wrong.
Use jack to take the load of the block and un-load the engine rod.
Use the replacement rod to push the old rod out.
I'd recommend chucking some blue grease on the rod before chucking it in.
Best of luck!
