So the story goes sort of like this...and by sort of, I mean exactly.

One day, I am sitting at work and I shoot Robin (my soon to be wife...the DitR folks met her) an IM..."I should get a new bike and you should get a new husband."
She thought it was funny that I was trying to make a deal with her but didn't take me serious.
The next day, I repeat my IM.
Again, she sort of laughs it off.
The following day, I start sending her links to engagement rings..."I really like this one..." "You love the Tiffany's stuff but it is all overpriced so let's look at these..." "Here are the ones I like best but you have to wear it so pick one out and let me know."
Silence...
For the rest of the day silence...
About 30 minutes to quitin' time, I ask if she had found one she liked yet.
She responds "Um...you were serious?"
Me: "Yeah. But we can talk more when I get home."
Her...   ...   ...

SO I get home and kick back on the sofa like normal after a hard day's work of slaying the mighty Virusilla and Malwareosaurus.
She is sort of quiet and after about an hour, nudges me and in a sort of sheepish voice says, "Seriously...were you serious?"
And I told her I was. I pointed out that we had talked about it a bunch and both of use had had a practice marriage so we were both veterans with experience in the killing fields that is marriage and since we lived together anyway and really sort of dug each other, why not?
So we started looking at rings again. She found a very nice understated solitaire that she really liked. I shot it down. Stone was too small and wasn't a quality stone anyway.
So we visited a local jeweler friend and they were able to replicate the ring but with a large and vastly superior quality stone.
She was happy. Her friends were jealous. And that was that.

So today at 11am, we tie the knot.



Thanks for the well wishes. I wasn't going to enter into marriage again unless I was absolutely sure this was, for good or for ill, going to be the last one. I'm happy. She's happy. Our friends and family are happy that we're happy...

Oh yeah...and the reasons we are getting married on Friday the 13th are simple...

1. Both of us got married on "normal" days before and they failed so why not do it on a "cursed" day?
2. Besides, it IS a day just like any other day.
