That looks nice.
I still like the SSS on the S*R/S. Personal preference I guess.

I tested one once. Loved the motor, but being a short arse I didnt like the seat height, weight or c of g at all. A big fella might like it.

Mine is actually pretty low, C of G and all. Unless you're 4 foot 5, I don't see how you can consider it too tall.
The first time I rode it, I wasn't too impressed, throttle response seemed wonky, wasn't used to the brakes, or how it turned, it turned out that I was just not riding it right. Now, it's my favorite bike, but having a Short Attention Span, I'm always looking for something else, not necessarily better, just different.
I didn't mean any offense by the "4 foot 5" remark. If that is you're height, you are going to have a hard time finding a bike anyway.

I don't intend to be harsh against other people's choice of bike, just offerreing Tiz a ride impression.
I'm 5'8", short compared to most of my mates who are over 6'.
It's certainly a personal thing as I didn't like the feel of the taller motor and how it was raised in the chassis compared to the M900. The weight was higher and there was more of it which goes against my preference for light bikes. Some riders prefer a more substantial bike that's more planted and the S4 is a substantial bike. I didn't feel "over" the weight of the bike, but a bigger rider might have the weight more "gathered up" under them. For example, I reckon the TL1000S and TL1000R are absolute boats, but a buddy reckons they feel great, but he's 6'2" and 220. Conversley some small riders like the thrill of hanging on for dear life on a large bike. I raced mostly Formula 400 and Supersport and like small, light bikes.
The power and smoothness of the motor made my M900 feel agricultural. Although the motor felt smooth and sophisticated in power delivery it became brutal as the revs climbed, the old iron fist in velvet glove description. Very impressive.
The ride position was roomy and a taller guy might like that.
Might well suit Tiz. Just trying to give him my impression.
Shows you gotta test ride to know whether it suits you.

I've not ridden one, but have sat one it and felt the weight.
I'm 6'1" and it was fine for me, with some rearsets although I could manage.
I am just getting itchy for one before htey get too old...

You'll love the motor, it just keeps going and going compared to a 2 valver.
I wasn't greedy, only wanted to be 6' even, my Grandad was 6'4-6'6, but I only got his ears and temper!

you're better suited to be a racer than me.. all the successful racers are short to mid height.
only tall ones... ? sete gibernau? he looked like a stork on a toddler's tricycle.

The fastest guys I know are those little guys, a lot of the pros, are about 5'6 or so.
You're right about the S4, the power is pretty damn good. Mine, like I mentioned was 95 hp and 67 lb ft at the wheel, I would assume a 120 hp S4RS would be just that much more fun. I thought about doing some hotrod work on my S4, but it's real reliable right now, and I'd hate to screw that up, make it peaky and eat spark plugs and whatnot. The only place it lacks is when the road really opens up, and the big bores start really rolling, after 120-130, they just pull away. Any less than that and the S4 holds its own.

5' 5" - 5' 9" seems to be the norm.
Agreed with koko64's comments too regarding the 2V vs 4V CG and handling, although handing is a very subjective thing. Same with the 2V vs 4V power characteristics which he described accurately IMO. Compromises, compromises...

Ducatiz, why the search for the S4? You already have the SR800. I'm assuming you have it modified they way you like it. If you want more power, find a DS1000 or 1100 from a Monster, SS, or Sport Classic. Have Donnie work it over and you'll have the 95hp of that S4, but a lot more torque, more like 82 ft/lbs at the rear wheel. Those numbers were with a fairly conservative street motor build. More horsepower could have been gained with cams and larger valves.
BTW, I'm going to the performance engine building seminar this Saturday at DucPond. You should look into it. It might be right up your alley. It is an all day class.

I don't know.
The DS1000 doesn't do anything for me.
The 916 does.
Plus I like the DSS bikes I just don't want another 2v with the same basic setup as my S2R.
I don't mind duplication. I have 3 SS bikes (although one is a 600ss)
Call me weird.
