I had cycle cat sliders on a 2000 900ie. When I went down (cold road, cold brakes/bad tilt to the road)they did not help. They caught the road and flipped the bike, all this at less then ten miles per hour. I'm not saying they don't work, I'm just saying my frame got bent. I've got speedy motos now and am trying not to test them. They look great tho.

the Axljax sliders I put on my GF's 05 M620 are great and prevented damage when she lost footing a couple times and dumped the bike....

R&G racing. Forks and frame slider saved my bike after a highside at the track.

Thanks for the input so far guy's.
I have also heard that sometimes they do more damage then they do good.
But maybe the % of flipping your bike might be smaller than the low side,or drop that they save.

frame slider has saved my bike during a low side , trailer incident, bike stand failure, and being clipped by another rider.

the one on my monster is speedy moto and did a good job.  I don't know what is on my triumph s3 and it worked fine.

I have replaced the puck after the trailer incident as it took a lot of blow but was still intact.

Like you stated, the catch is if during a slide the frame slider catches a pot hole, then it will do more damage by flipping it.

Speedymoto.  Thankfully I haven't tested them yet.

speedymoto frame sliders will go on every bike i ever own. they are the one thing that kept my bike from being totaled when I highsided and have saved it in numerous minor incidents.

the slider material they use secretes oil when it grinds down which helps it slide and both the mount for the puck and the bar that the mount attaches to (the portion that replaces your engine bolt) is much more sturdy than stock.

and FWIW, all instances where ive heard of bike flipping due to frame sliders were sub par sliders and/or accidents that would have totaled the bike anyway. sure you can find the rare instance where it could potentially be worse but thats like saying seat belts are a bad idea because you could get trapped in a burning car.

The important thing with them is to keep your expectations reasonable. they aren't a magic forcefield that prevents all damage, if the bike goes down it is going to get hurt. framesliders just reduce the damage to the frame and by extension a good portion of the bike.

tassie
check the puck replacement cost before you purchase.
I have T-rex racing sliders on engine front and back axles.
Binned the bike in the Blue Mountains West of Sydney
Sliders saved the day , was able to ride home .If I had not had the axle sliders
the SS swingarm would of been ruined also calipers and rotors possible .
The replacement cost of the three pucks sent to me in Oz was only $50 all up.
Cheap and they arrived within 10 days. waytogo
