So my bike isn't starting and I'm thinking it's the battery, but the events leading to it not starting don't really make sense to me.

Bike sat for a few weeks. Went out one cold morning, started it up fine. Rode about 5 miles to class. Parked. Had to start it up about 5 minutes later and move it 15 ft. Started up fine there too.
About 4 hours later, I go to leave, and the bike won't start. I put the key in, and hit the button, and all it does is click, and the maintenance light comes on.

This seem like battery, or something else mechanical?

you basically ran the battery down.  stored with no tender, cold, started it up 2-3 times without riding enough distance to charge it.

try charging the battery.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Cool, that's what I was thinking. Just wanted to make sure since the maintenance light was throwing me off.
Thanks
