What is the spare plug by the injection control unit?

Sorry, I don't have a place to upload a pic, but you can see the capped plug/connector in the parts catalog for my '07 M695 (drawing 018, page 44).  Crouching on the throttle-side of the bike, the ICU has two sets of wires connecting to it. The rear-facing connection into the ICU has a small, capped connector hanging there. The parts catalog shows it, but there's no label.  Is it for a diagnostic tool or what, exactly?

Just curious, as I noticed it while (finally) getting ready to connect my new battery tender....

Pretty sure that's for the Ducati DDS or other diagnostic tool.

My S2R 800 work shop manual says it's a diagnose connector. My guess is that the 695 is the same.

What I didn't know is that from the right ECU connector there is supposed to be a battery charger connector. I have to look for it and see if I can use it [thumbsup]

Thanks for the replies.   [thumbsup]

Sure wish mine had the battery connector already. Looks like it's going to be a bit painful getting to the battery terminals to install the pigtail.

Not very difficult - remove the seat, release tank latch, lift tank.  [thumbsup]

Normally, yes. But for some reason, nothing in my universe is ever quite that easy.  ;)   I managed to get it connected without too much effort, and didn't blow anything up in the process.  A small, personal victory     :D
