swapping wheels with a 92 900ss

I have a friend who wants to powder coat his black 900ss wheels white. I talked him into powder coating my silver 96 m900 wheels white and giving me his black ones. Since both wheels are the same 17 x 5.5 in the rear, it should be a straight swap. I'm taking it to his house in the morning so it'll be done while I'm working tomorrow. The only thing I'm wondering now is, are there any differences in weight? I'd hate to give him heavier wheels by accident or vise versa. Thanks

Does he have a white-framed SS? That is a good swap.

I believe those two bikes both have the same Brembos and the weight is going to be the same.

I am assuming you are putting new cush drive bushings in both of the wheels when doing this swap after powdercoating right???

The wheels I am getting are not being powdercoated. They're already black so I wont be replacing any cush drive bushings. But, he did mention he was going to remove the cush drive bushings "very carefully" before powdercoating the silver ones white, and as long as he doesn't damage them, re-use them. I don't know too much about them myself...except there expensive to replace

as expensive as a possible cush drive bushing failure?

a failed cush drive bushing can lead to wheel lock up and a crash among other isues...

You could paint the wheels and *not* have to R&R cush drive bushings and wheel bearings.

I might end up doing that. Just got a call from him, apparently it was wasn't a straight swap. The rear wheel bearings were different sizes? That wasnt the big deal though, the deal killer was the front center shafts were also different sizes. It'd work, but we'd have to swap those parts and I dont think he was down for that. I dont really know ALL the details either as he was trying to explain this to me on the phone. Oh well.

At least no one has to worry about those cush drive bushings anymore
