Sorry.  Gotta pregnant dog.

WTH is it with having a 90 probation period that you're not covered by insurance for and then taking on an additional 30 days of employment beyond that before you're eligible?

I'll be 4.5 months into my job before I'm eligible for insurance!

You're not endorsed?

I'm guessing he's got his endorsement, but not the rider education course.

From what I heard, as long as you already have an endorsement, you're fine. Its the new riders that are being targeted.

No, I'm endorsed and I took MSF in California.  But since I'll be 41 by next year, and since they're rolling it out 21, 31, 41 over the next few years I'll be exempt from all of those.  I wouldn't need to take Oregon training until the 51 and under rule took effect.  And I guess not at all if I get grandfathered in by already having my endorsement.

Random question: When I grew up on the east coast it was always referred to as a 'motorcycle license' in daily conversation.  Here on the west coast everyone calls it an 'endorsement'.  Why the difference do you think?

And Chuck, it's 'cause it's cheaper for them.  If you signed on, got your ins, then quit real quick they'd have to process your initial insurance and administer your COBRA.  Then of course they only process things starting on the first of the month, tough on you if you become eligible on the 2nd.  They're just trying to make sure you're going to stick around and produce something before they give you something.  I feel it just speaks to a general lack of respect people have for each other these days.  Shame.  Better times ahead my friend, hold on Wink

I seriously think we all need a beer. We can chat about the endorsement rules, and then chat insurance regulation and COBRA insurance... of course... its one of Stalones better movies... COBRA  waytogo

Being on east coast time, and well into beer number 5, I wholeheartedly agree.

They are grandfathering people in. This is only for new riders. Here is the text from the law:

Quote
Under the new law, mandatory training will be phased in for all new motorcycle riders regardless of age. Beginning Jan 1, 2011, new motorcycle riders under the age of 31 must complete the TEAM OREGON Basic Rider Training course as part of the endorsement process unless they have a valid motorcycle-endorsed license from another state. Additional age groups will be phased in as follows:

* Jan. 1, 2012 – All new riders under age 41

* Jan. 1, 2013 – All new riders under age 51

* Jan. 1, 2014 – All new riders under age 61

* Jan. 1, 2015 – All new riders no matter what age.

More info in the first paragraph here: http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/4/460/6/Motorcycle-Blog-Post/Oregon-Law---Riders-Must-Take-Safety-Course.aspx

And on the east coast, everybody I knew called it an endorsement.  Undecided

Yah, Scott . . . We're from the North East . . . Where it's a motorcycle license, they're called license plates not tags, and the vehicle inspection is an 18 point safety check not a smog emission analysis.

We're a bit different then everyone else.

Then again.  Where else can you have laws that allow blind drivers to park in any parking space including handicapped and blind hunters are allowed to use pistols and crossbows?

The Midwest.

But nobody stays there.

'Midwest' has always been such a pretentious term that pisses me off. The only thing correct about it is that it's neither mid nor west.

Also, it bugs me when people stab their brakes momentarily when flying down the highway and passing a car/pedestrian in the emergency lane. It evidently makes them feel good about themselves, 'cause a car going 62 is apparently unlethal to a pedestrian, while 65 is.

Also, if you ask for things to be held from a burger, they should credit you back. And there's this new trend about charging for condiments (cough Burger King on Airport Way, and also the one by the Wood Village Wally World cough cough). I just gave you eight dollars, dude. Take the dime out of that. Better yet, keep your tomatoes and pickles, and credit me with Zesty Sauce plus several more napkins.

Also, it is fundamentally flawed for dudes to suffer the blame for lack of performance based on hot dog size. After mutual puberty, the hallway is the only variable here, man, and it don't get remodeled to be narrower. Franks plump when you cook 'em, but they only plump so much, nah mean?

When the term was coined, after the Louisiana Purchase, the Middle-Western states represented the flat lands between the Easter Seaboard/Appalachian Mountains and the Western Frontier of the Rockies.

Agreed. >40 mph and you're pretty much make the beast with two backsed.

Also agreed. I pay the same price for a "Whopper, no mayo, no tomato," as the guy behind me pays for a "Whopper with extra everything." I feel robbed. And fat.

Nothing I can say won't make you hate me as a person, so I'll keep those comments to myself.

If they were to credit you for fewer condiments and toppings then they'd have to conversely charge you for the additional wages incurred by having to custom create your burger.

In the end they're gonna bend you over a table and make the beast with two backs you hard without the benefit of chocolate, flowers, or lube.

Yeah, stupid origin of 'midwest'. It ought to be dishonorably discharged for no longer applying and being presumptuous.

That'd be the dumb, Chuck. Burgers are disassembled in their default state. Not adding something doesn't constitute interference with anything but habit. They're not made on an assembly line. In that regard, Fuddrucker's sounds good right now.
