Nothing that extra bacon can't solve.... speaking of which... pan fried some burgers on a cast iron skillet... set off every fricken fire alarm in the house... smoked everything up... and they tasted awesome... couldn't have been better... I had all the windows open and the fan on... nothing helped.

Funnily enough, grease is slippery, especially on tile floors. After almost busting my ass several times, I requested a lid be put on the burgers.

One of those nice deep fry screens that covers the whole pot is better.  It lets the steam out so you don't overcook the other side or steam away and crispy goodness after the first flip.  But I'm way too picky about how I prepare my food.  And I seem to make a hell of a mess no matter what.  You should see my deck now that I've got a wok burner out there.  Rice,veggie scraps, and soy sauce splashes all over the place.

I use a screen like that almost every day .  Oh, and I have a hood that will take the hat off your head.  When we re-did the kitchen, I asked all my chef friends what the one thing they would have in a kitchen for the B&B and they all said a powerful hood.

The best way to get smoke out of your house is to remove the screens on the windows,  They reduce volume and airflow.  Learned that from a fireman, excuse me, fire fighter.

Dude, they rock.  Burgers don't make much of a mess in my house but deep frying french fries does.  These things are a god send.  Go for the finer mesh ones.  Cheap and effective.

There have been a LOT of LEOs on SR14 for the past couple of months.  I see at least one, but usually two, each way on my commute back and forth to work.  Three is not uncommon, and one time there were six. 

So yeah, I'd avoid speeding... 5 over seems to be alright if you speed check when you see them, but they'll nail you for 10 over.
