Your will power is stronger than mine these days.

Then again, you are posting in a moto board while you're supposed to be working...

Oh, and don't ever listen to Charles Bukowski's poetry at work if you want to get things done.  The words of an alcoholic, suicidal guy who writes about the oppressed, pointless and inane existence of the working man is not inspirational when you're sitting if front of a keyboard.  Great and powerful stuff but I had to leave early on Friday.

PMR will crap their pants if the FFA would clear a UAV for use in this area

how does maintenance cost vs flight hours compare to say a Bell 206 or similar light

Operating costs are WAY lower.  The air vehicle itself requires little maintenance, and even if you lose one they only cost $70k-$100k each.  Ground equipment includes the ground control computer (low maintenance), the launcher (a pneumatic catapult requiring modest maintenance), and the Skyhook recovery system (basically a hydraulic Genie Lift with some climbing rope, bungee cords, and a special GPS receiver for precision location correction).

Wish I had a $/flight hour figure for you... all I know is it's WAY under the cost of operating a helo (any helo... even a Robinson R22).

Total system is between $500k and $1 mil to purchase initially (depending on how it's kitted out)... cheaper than your average fling-wing (Bell 206, etc). So between purchase price and operating costs, ScanEagle is much more economical.  Law enforcement agencies are chompin' at the bit to get these things allowed in US airspace.  They could use them a lot more often than they can afford to use a helo.

So... Julie and I are at MotoCorsa on Saturday... and she points at the new 848 Dark and says, "I don't know why you ever got rid of the 848. You like the Multistrada, but you loved the 848. You should get another 848."

I was fine... but now I want.  bang head

Because Arun wispered sweet nothings in his ear while plying him with red wine.
