Rode to work today, first ride in probably a month.  Long enough that I felt a little rusty.  Cold, a little wet, and so happy to be out Smiley

Just ordered some new waterproof boots and gloves.  Take that PNW spring weather!

I'd love to ride to work, but "waterproof gear" won't cut it going through Cascade Locks.  You need "deluge-proof" gear.  Maybe a drysuit.  That and the morning low temps are still around 40.

Cold I can handle.  Wet is "meh."  Cold + wet just ain't fun.  Since the whole point of riding for me is fun, when it ain't fun, the bike stays parked.

REALLY looking forward to improving weather in the Gorge.  Oh yeah, and I need to get my better half some gear so we can go riding together.

Cold and wet isn't my favorite either but gloves and boots were the only things leaking, so now I'm covered if I want to head out.  I needed new boots anyway.  The current pair is a tired 10 years old and I ground the toes off a while back at the track.

I just broke down and replaced my 6 time shoe gooed, 4 time gorrila glued, seam sealed, and spray painted boots with a killer deal on Joe Rocket water proof boots.  I looked at them last year but wouldn't pay $179 for them.  At $89 though I just couldn't say no - especially since my soul came unglued again  Evil

I hadn't heard about this, but glad I have now.  Several of my in-laws live around Sandy.  I forwarded a news webpage about it to them, in case they hadn't seen it in the news.

Back home there's a nasty little down hill reducing radius hair pin turn.  It's a nice twisty road with a 55MPH limit.  Your cruising along at 75 and your buddy leans out the window looking over the drop off to the right and says "Dude, that's the road down there" just as you crest the little rise and see the world of hurt coming your way"

Where's the Frickin sign saying that's coming up you grit through your teeth as you brake heavily, down shift, tires squeeling drifing through the turn at 40-50ish MPH.

Later it makes for a great story over some beer and then you see on the local TV channel that local kids are in trouble with the law for cutting the sign down  bang head

Oh, and if you've ever seen that Chevy Chase movie Funny Farm where it shows the kids cutting down a sign as he drives his car off a hair pin . . . yah . . .  that's the corner!

And the winter country town scene was filmed in the summer and they did this huge fake snow thing.  It was filmed in Manchester VT.  About 15 minutes from where I grew up.

Oh, and I worked in the country store in that Manchester too.

It occurred to me you guys might not even remember me.  I rode a couple times with some of you over the last couple years.  Brian, white S4rs, from Astoria.  Anyway, hope to join you guys this summer on some rides.  [moto] Later
