I was taking jumps in Florence with some pals... a sand rail cut under us while we were in the air.... his bike landed in the sand rail.... I don't know if the helmet protected him or not... but I do know he needed to drink most of a bottle of vodka to relax and kill the pain at the end of the day... he rode the bike back sideways... as the frame was bent... I have flipped my quad a dozen times... had the bike roll over me... and always come up with a few cracked ribs and a lot of sand dumped into the face of the helmet.... helmets are always good things. But, I never wear it when riding to the bathrooms and back at sand lake. :-)

An honest CEO
:
"Let's face it, we're not changing the world. We're building a product that helps people buy more crap - and watch porn."
-- Bill Watkins, CEO of Seagate
That's from a couple years ago, but I saw the quote on a webpage and had to go verify it. That's gotta be the first CEO I've heard that didn't just blather.

Teen fires shot with AK-47
Last Updated Jan 27, 2009 7:36 AM
Printer Friendly Version
Police said they're searching for a teenager armed with an AK-47 after he fired a shot that didn't hit anyone.
Officers said they were called out to a domestic violence situation that resulted in a shooting at about 11 a.m. Monday about 10 miles west of St. Helens in the Yankton area of Columbia County.
Police said no one was hit in the shooting, but the shooter's mother suffered an injury that wasn't related to the shooting.
Columbia County deputies responded to disarm the shooter, police said. Officers were searching for the 19-year-old in the rural area but had been unable to find him.
The search involved law enforcement officers from at least four different agencies and included a plane and an armored personnel carrier. Neighbors in the area said that police told them to stay indoors.
"One of my family members came to my house and said there was like SWAT team going around so I came out here to see what was going on," Timothy Holland said. "I've got kids I probably need to get out of here. It's pretty scary."
Police said at about 4 p.m. they received information that the accused shooter was in someone's car and was driving to the sheriff's office to turn himself in.

Probably? I think he gets the parent of the year award.
