If the job is in Oregon, you still pay Oregon income tax. Unless you buy a house, no tax advantage, unless it's a WA based company and they can pay you out of the WA "office."

Job is in WA... Bingen, specifically.
I'd be looking to move across the riviera, since they have no income tax in WA. Property seems to be cheaper up there when compared to Hood River, too. Granted, it still isn't "cheap," it's just not as exorbitant as HR. Property taxes seem to be comparable on either side of the river.
Found some great prices in North Bonneville (5-6 miles west of Stevenson, about 30 miles west of Bingen). Also found a great looking place on a quarter acre in Stevenson, with a VERY appealing 2-car garage+shop. $225,000... unfortunately, that's may be a little north of my budget. Will probably need to keep the total bill (mortgage+tax+ins) to under $1300/mo. We'll see what happens after we negotiate salary. My student loans suck up ~$900/mo, so I'm kinda limited there. Once those are gone in another 8 years, I'll be sitting pretty. Should be a Sr. Engineer in a few years, as well, which is good money.
Is the job in WA?
Hey, if you do move out that way, you'll have no excuse for not going on a Cougar Run. [moto]
Oh definitely! Dude, if I were to rent/buy someplace in White Salmon, y'all would have to come out for a ride & BBQ. It's 20-odd miles out SR-14 past Stevenson. And I'd definitely be making the Cougar Run! Actually, if I can land a house in Stevenson or North Bonneville, we might have a new official meeting place for the Cougar Run.
Hope it all comes through Dan.
Scott
Thanks! Looks like it is. I'll get y'all up to speed once we've negotiated and I've accepted an offer.
