I need a new rear tire on my 2005 Monster 620. Anybody buy tires from TireRack.com ?? I'm debating just getting it all done (purchase and mounting) at my local Duc Shop or buying the tire online and bringing it to the Duc Shop to have it mounted etc. as I'm pretty sure they have a pretty hefty mark up on parts.

Thoughts??

I've found that Jake Wilson has the best prices on moto tires.

That said...check to see what your local shop charges to put on tires from somewhere else. Many charge a hefty fee to discourage you from buying the tires on line.

if you but a tire online, you can go to any moto shop and have them mount it. Do some price shopping.

Is there a specific tire brand/model you are looking for? Sportbiketrackgear has some pretty good tire prices. The best deal on there IMO are the Pilot Power 2ct I've seen anywhere. 239 shipped for front and rear!

What about storage condition for online tires? Should I be concerned about tires sitting in hot warehouses or suffering from dry rot and such? My Duc Shop told me all their tires are from temperature controlled storage and not sitting around for months in a warehouse in Florida. Valid concern or sales tactic?

Just started shopping for a place in Colorado to mount/balance. The Honda dealer said I'd have to go to a non-dealer shop, as dealers will only mount tires bought there, due to liability issues. First place I called wanted $39/wheel (unmounted). Second place wanted $30/wheel.  Just a balance was also $30/wheel.   Shocked

you don't have a cyclegear?

they charge $20 to mount and balance if you buy tire from them or $30 if you bring in tire and wheel

Cyclegear only has locations in the south and west coast. If you look at their store locator map it looks like a Civil War map.

I live in the greater Raleigh NC area and know four different friends who will change, mount and balance tires for nothin' more than my flatulent company. bow down drink Not to mention a beeer or two. Point is that you guys need to look around for free resources. I'm sure it would even make sense to pool funds for a changer. That would pay for itiself in one riding season.

Just a gimmick sales tactic. Go with any major online retailer and you'll be fine.

I need to buy me a front and rear stand so I can remove and replace the tires myself. I know Pitbulls are very popular here but is there any reason not to go with the following stand for a rear stand? I know its a knock-off but its almost half the price.

You will get what you paid for is hat I think.  Pits are the best but I don't see myself spending over 100 mula for a stand.

I got my front and rear stand for 80 total from some other riders on Craigslist.  Not pits quality but they do the job just fine.

Just my $0.02

That stand should be fine. I like Pitbulls a lot, but other stands work just fine.
