Just put the Ipad 2 next to the Generation 3 one to check out the screen resolution.

Holy shit. The Gen 3 clarity is soooo much better.

Sorry to hear that.

If you bought it at Best Buy. Take your receipt back and buy the Black Tie Warranty (You can do this up to 30 days after you purchase it). Wait a few weeks........then file your claim.

What is the damage?

One of the edges is pretty chewed up top to bottom.  Face/glass is intact but now I'm afraid to turn it on.

It just slid right out of my hands.... I would have liked to have seen the expression on my face while it was happening.

I can live with the rough, scratch your skin edge (will find a protector that covers the edge) - not going to return it for that.

Might go into a store (bought online thru Apple) tell them my hands were all fat and buttery and have them turn it on and verify that it's working properly (or not) while I turn my head and wince - waiting for their answer.   Wink

I've had good luck when I've brought electronics in to a store (usually a dropped cell phone) and tell them exactly what happened.

I can't make up a story like some other friends suggested ("crush the packaging a little and tell them it arrived that way.").  I've tried that with my parents. It never worked.   Wink

Will let you all know when I get it up and hopefully running.

The Otterbox products are great P...

even Zip can't hurt his ipad with the Defender model installed....and he drops it all the time.

I don't know if they offer anything for the ipad 3 yet...edit...looks like they do.

You suggested fraud, a crime. Not to mention, a loss of integrity. Integrity is a funny thing. To some it is valuable, to others worthless. I've done my best to keep mine intact and that has helped me (saved my job at times and literally secured me the one I have now) at different times through the years. I wouldn't lose mine over $800. And it doesn't matter if anyone else knows or I get caught. I know.

Your threshold or opinion may be different. That's fine. I just would never loan you anything. Smiley

Stella, turn it on. It's probably fine. I've dropped my iPhone several times and it's sans case. As long as the glass didn't crack your golden. If the damage can be masked with a nice case then even better.

+1 on Otterbox cases. The only thing I have a problem with is they are very thick and chunky. However, if in an environment where damage is likely, I wouldn't mind.

A friend of mine has an Otterbox on his iPhone. He was running through a monsoon like thunderstorm in a parking lot. His phone fell off his belt and into a 3" puddle of water. He realized the phone was gone when he got inside, so he retraced his steps and found it under water (probably for a minute or so).

The phone still works  waytogo

Finally getting back to the scratch 'n dent pad.

After taking off the cellophane, I'm happy to report that the actual wrap was more torn than the side of the pad. And so far so good with functionality.

Hesitated pouring a much needed glass of wine after a long day (month) to sit and get it going. So, I moved the glass across the counter forcing me to get up and take a drink as opposed to having it sit next to the pad. Smart move on my clumsy part, wouldn't you say.    Grin

I'm very familiar w/the Otterbox brand.  Just wish they weren't so butt ugly.  However having ugly protect usability and function for a few years may win over cool, visually aesthetic design.

 Vino!

You may be able to get free replacement if you paid with Amex.  Also, have you talked to your insurance agent about coverage?
