I have an 06 S2R1000, that had expanding tank problems and was lucky enough to have it replace by Ducati.  I want to take some steps to mitigate the problems associated with E10/water/ducati acerbis plastic tanks swell the new tanks.  I am not going to coat it with caswell mostly the hassel of having done and my not wanting to screw around with brand new tanks.
Since last summer I always add Startron to every tank full. So my question is: for long term(several months) storage, do u think it's reasonable to run Startron/K100 treated gas into the fuel system and then to siphon off any remaining gas and store the bike almost empty (except for what remains in the fuel pump and injectors)?

This seems like it would reduce the volume/concentration effects of water and E10.  Or is better to fill the tank to the brim with treated E10 gas (ethanol free is not available)?

better to fill the tank to the brim.

one "reasonable" solution to the whole thing is to just ebay another tank and swap them when it gets too bad. the tanks do regain their shape if left empty in a cool dry area for a few months.  you could consider it a part of your maintenance schedule.

it blows but unless you swap to a metal tank all the coatings and fuel treatments do is delay or lessen the swelling.  luckily the swelling is a largely a cosmetic thing.

I live in Florida and my tank seems to swell less quickly when I keep it less full.  It sucks.

Get a copy of Startron's MSDS sheet and see for yourself.

It's useless for preventing water separation in STORAGE.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.
