My buddy is trying to get into this race,  but he needs your help. Only the top 4 get in and currently he's in 4th (on the bubble) and needs your help to ensure he stays in.

Please vote for him here:

Hi everyone,

I've got some exciting news I'd like you to be a part of. I am in the running for a mountain biking contest called "The Hellride". It is a race where I will ride a mountain bike over 70 miles and 12,000 vertical feet in about 12+ hours through the mountains of Northern California.

I have been chosen as a semi-finalist, along with 14 others, but I need your vote to become a finalist!

The top four vote-getters will go to the event and compete against each other and Mark Weir, a professional mountain biker, to win a new Santa Cruz mountain bike. But it is really about the experience, and if I get to go I will be making a video for all to see my ordeal at www.joybean.com

You can only vote once per email address, so I'd love for you to vote and pass along this information to anyone who may be willing to vote for me.  It just takes a few seconds.

Here is more info about the contest:

After weeding our way through over 500 applicants for this year's Santa Cruz Hellride, we have narrowed the field down to 15 men and 12 women who can be viewed in all their glory by following this url:  http://www.santacruzbicycles.com/hellridefive/voteforpedro.php?hellrider=1&userid=0191

This is where you, the voting public, come in. We need to have this group whittled down further to a final group of 4 men and 4 women. And we are going to do it the way the Greeks did! No, that does not mean hairy backs and sandals. It means, democratically. This is an open election. Each voter can select one male and one female contestant. The four male and four females with the highest vote tallies at the time we shut the machine down (July 11th) will be invited to Hell (or more specifically, Downieville, CA)

Once there they will compete in a variety of unsavory acts and feats of strength, and will face a grueling 70-some mile off-road ride with massive elevation gain aboard a heavy bike with only one chainring, while being pursued by a couple of very fast pro racers. At the most, only two people stand a chance of going home with a brand new Santa Cruz Nomad.

But first they have to get there. Who do you want to see suffer the most? Vote!

Thanks, I really appreciate your vote!

Thanks for all your help

Voteded.

For some reason reading all the little profiles makes me want to see how tired I get riding my DH bike (albeit a lightweight DH bike) on an XC trail. Hmm... I'm already tired just thinking about it.

Do we all get a chance to ride the bike, if he wins?  ;)
