I've already exposed myself as a total noob, so I'll just go ahead and ask...

Followed the how-to upload photos thread and tried to use the same method to upload a pic to my profile but it didn't work.  what am I doing wrong?

Go to your profile/forum profile info/

if you have a pic hosted you should be able to link to it by clicking 'I have my own pic' and pasting the link. If you choose this make sure it is the actual picture link and not the link to your flikr or picasa page.

You may also upload a pic to the server by choosing 'I will upload my own pic' then click choose file.

That will allow you to pick a picture on your computer.

The first option requires you to size the pic, the second does it for you.

HTH...

Yeah, I tried both of those options before I posted... oh well.

He forgot to mention the most important part: scroll down to the bottom and click "Save Profile."

Don't ask me how I know...  ;)

Hmmm... I had been trying those steps using a different picture and it didn't work...

I was actually trying to load a pic of my bike but I think the reason it won't work may have something to do with the app on my phone I used to take the pic...  I need a camera!

It may be a file type the software doesn't recognize....

possible.

If you host that pic somewhere else like flikr ot photobucket it may work.

I was having a similar problem. I think the file size was simply too big, cause it worked after I scaled the image by 50%
