Stage 1.5 reduce, re-use, recycle.

Initial fitting

Next step is a welder...

looks like the exhaust from the front cylinder being rerouted to give a bit for ground clearance.

What we are looking at here is the stock headers from a Multistrada 620.  It turns out all small case motors are the same.

I only had two issues with it... the little tiny catalytic converter interfered with my foot, and the bend after it interfered with the swing arm.  Out came the hacksaw.  I also have to lower the ride height a smidge because at full extension the swing arm rubs on the vertical pipe a wee bit.

To finish it I need to make a bracket for the left side to make sure the front header doesn't melt the... wire that is the sensor on the bottom right of the engine case, right under the clutch, whose purpose escapes me right now, and fab up the rest from "scratch."

I could just make it dump right there like a monoboom, but I am attempting to at least look responsible when it goes off pavement....

I like both of those.  To my eye, though, each one is further into solving a single problem set than I like to be.  I assume the one on the left has compromised road handling a fair bit, and I assume the one on the right would be hell on my back on the local slab to where the slightly twisty roads are.

I even like the idea you took with your exhaust (in the other thread)... I probably won't order one Tongue, but I like the thought that went into the execution.

~1k update on the tires.

They seem to be holding up pretty well to my heavy hand, and they handle pretty decent on the street.

Washboard gravel/dirt roads are not scary at less than 50, and light sand and wet dirt (I wouldn't call it quite mud) are decent as well.

Dial this one back from 11 to about a 5, so I'll only be a little over my head.

So, I thought this would be a faster process, and that I would continue to ride the bike as it evolved.  Layshaft seal and oil cooler hoses had entirely different ideas, though.

Layshaft seal is fixed, but Frentubos are on back order. Angry

I still have little faith these exist for regular people...

In other news, it turns out my skid plate solution interferes with my oil cooler lines.  I think I have a plan, but first: to the Rockies!

oh yes we can... ground clearance is a crutch also, wheelies cure many ills over logs and big rocks. although restraint is the better part of valor. I had wanted to take you over to Moab and plonk around over there, would have been a ride like Lake city though, long......there is really just so much to see and I'm just now beginning to see it...
