do i need to re-tune my exhausts?

Hi y'all,

Just put my D&D high mount back to low mount due to some clearance issues.

Now my bike runs fine but there are popping db at high rpm.  I don't have a tach so I can't tell at which range.  This happen when I put it in high rpm and up shift.  When down shift, if I don't match my rpm correctly, I will get that pop sounds too.

Do you know what the symptom called? That way I can do more research or if you know a good way to fix then please instruct me how to.  Bike is 2000 M750.

Exhaust leaks are a cause of popping sometimes, recheck for leaks.

more of a lack of back pressure I am guessing...popping on deceleration?

Am I mistaken in thinking he's talking about backfiring? That would be a low backpressure situation.  All bikes backfire, just some have cats and mufflers to quiet the noise. It means unburnt fuel has made it to the exhaust and caught fire.  I can't imagine it's kind to the exhaust valves. Could use maybe leaning out or advanced timing? Those are guesses of course.

You changed something and it started popping.

My guess is leaks.

Soapy water in a spray bottle will help you find them.

My dad said extra fuel...

I thought it was a leak but I can confirm...however I have the exhaust wrapped at the header connecting to the mid-pipe.

Back pressure...I'm receiving the baffles soon, so let see how that will turn out...

It hardly matters what you do from the headers back on your 750, most of the back pressure is at the crossover.  Most likely is an exhaust leak.

There are leaks... 

Wraped the header with heat wrap, that reduced the pops a little.

Then I installed a couples db killers/baffles and the bike run much smoother now...the noise level of my D&D reduced significantly (I love it now).
