Easiest way to adjust throttle cable?

Seems my cable has gained some slack over the past 2-3 years.  Would like it a little tighter... to much movement in the throttle for my liking.  What is the easiest way to make this adjustment?  I traced the cable to most awkward spot on the bike to fit a wrench.. it that really where I make the adjustment?  If so, how do I get in there?  Seems like I need to take the entire radiator off.

Thanks!
Jim

That's where you adjust 'em.  It's not terribly tight, just work a wrench in there and go.

DON'T fiddle with the linkage/lock nut marked with yellow paint.

Haha yeah - I figured the yellow paint meant stay away.  Any idea what the size is?  I was trying to get a 10mm wrench in there yesterday for a few minutes.  It could have been the right size... I was just pressed for time and gave up before I got it on.

You can adjust up at the throttle grip housing as well.

Leave at least 2-3mm of movement at the grip.

After adjustment, check with engine running, turn bars lock to lock to make sure you don't have a inadvertent throttle application due to cable routing.

How can I do it up top?  I don't really see anywhere an adjustment could be made... although I did not take the housing apart.  Is it in there?

Thanks,
Jim

There's a knurled fitting and locknut where the cable goes into the housing.

Ah ha!  I thought that's what it was, as it looked exactly like what you would see on a bicycle.  When it wouldn't turn, I left it alone.  Used a bit of muscle to un-stick it, and it worked great!

AH.....I assumed you were out of adjustment at the top.  Guess I should have asked, first.   ;)

Good pointer on checking at the extremes of steering lock, Nate.  Might save an unsettling experience at a gas station or something.   :o
