(jeeez I hate to see that aluminium frame)
I couldn't care less about the style of the chassis as long as they win. I wouldn't want ducati to get stuck in a time warp like Harley. Ducati has a proud racing history and if the trellis frame doesn't cut it, it's time to move on

I tend to agree with Rendang a bit ... and not just because of the aesthetics. For me the bigger issue is the reason for the change.
My understanding of how motorcycles work is something like: petrol, key, starter button. My understanding of design & dynamics is obviously even more limited ... but I remember reading that an old retired Aussie bloke (well he's 28 now) had a lot of faith in Filippo Preziosi's ideas - the problem was having them implemented. I think he was actually talking about that confidence after he had left the fold too, which makes it more genuine for me.
Sadly they are both gone now.
Ducati's proud racing history is not founded in doing what everyone else has been doing for longer.

ducati have gone there own way but to competitive theses days u have to be running the lastest and best technology the old trelis frame is just too stiff , now with the twin spar it should go around corners there engine has all ways be competitive with out having to go to air solidnoid actuated valves so nothing wrong with desmotronic operated valves so thats a big plus the engine provides the sole of a bike u dont look at while riding and to me thats the biggest thing providing grin factor comes first with me thats why i just love twins , but ducati do sit on there lorals too much and are loosing sales and races , take the new monster i read nothing but bad reviews it too small for most rider who have a foot bigger than a size 5 , 2 people dont fit , the engine is still belt driven , and with other naked bike putting another forty horse power and with better elctronics for far less money dont get me wrong i love ducatis all ways will but in todays wold people want bang for buck cheers bazz

Above all else I want them to win to, but I don't think Ducati is in any danger of being stuck in a time warp. Aluminium frames predate the Desmosedici trellis frame anyway and at least they used win on the trellis. But if it doesn't cut it yes it has to go. I was actually thinking more of the carbon fibre nonframe frame. I guess having no frame is fairly cutting edge
but unfortunately as Betty said they never had the money to develop it. Here is a long but very good article on Ducati's motogp problems, definately worth a read.

Apparently there is some sort of motorcycle race on Monday morning that may have some fast Ducati's and
other bikes in it.
