Polished the arrows on my S2R1000, documentary.

So, as you can see in these first few pics, the pipes on my bike have gotten a little brown and nasty, which is a shame because they are a beautiful italian set of pipes, the cross connect alone is cool.
So I took them over to Chris's and threw them in his tumbler. What a cool machine.
S2R1000 Exhaust in the tumbler
After about 4 hours the pipes came out looking about like this,
So after that it was time to take them home and polish them.
Hmm, not for street use. shhhh
Lots of strings
like I said, the crossconnect is pretty
Here are the tools I used
Palm Sander
Dremel Multimax and sander I didn't picture the slightly soapy water
drill and polishing attachment
and of course the bench grinder with polishing wheels
Tomorrow I am going to polish a little more and mount these up and watch them turn gold. Stay tuned.

Purty koo. I like your bike, sweet mods. Did you polish the muffler tips, I can't tell. Mag wheels?
But yeah, polishing stainless exhaust pieces is so easy and yields such a dramatic change in appearance I'm surprised a lot more people don't do it. I've done it with stock brushed stainless muffler tips but didn't do the tumbling step. Just went to town with a stick of red from Lowe's and a benchtop buffing wheel. Came out just as shiny.

Yah, I cleaned up the metal parts of the cans as well.
Forged aluminum marchesinis.
Thanks man. The mods you can't see are my favorite. 1080 high comp pistal pistons and lightened flywheel. The bike is a beast.

Will the exhaust return to the brown color once you use it?

More of a golden color but yes temp should add color. The leaner the bike runs the more color. Lucky for me mine is mapped very well.

Got the pipes on the bike today, added less color than I thought initially, I'm sure as I ride they will get more golden.
Yah, I made a video
A little color after some idle
Got back later in the evening and they were getting a bit golden.

a buddy of mine did a black ceramic coat on his termis, I decided to just polish mine. From what I understand this will actually last quite awhile and when it gets bad I can just pull them off and repolish. I couldn't believe how good they look considering what they looked like originally.

The Chromex looks like chrome, plus the benefits of ceramic coating.

me too, straight clean stainless wouldn't look right. I had a good idea how they'd turn, my friend did the same process on his 996

I have heard of that, can't you pretty much chrome anything with it.

Performance Coatings ceramic coatings are mostly for engine parts, but I guess you could do other things.
