Where to install a resistor(s)?

Previous owner installed aftermarket led signals on the front and rear. They have the typical fast flash. Where in the system should I install the resistor? Or does each st of signals get their own resistor?
Any suggestions on what size Imight need?

Just installed a set of rizomas on my s4r the instructions says if u have a 10 watt oem bulb use a 10 ohm resistor if u have a 21 watt oem bulb use 2 10 ohm resistors in parallel not sure what the wattage is but they r the large white ones.hope this helps

memper

it does, thanks.
whereabouts on the harness did you install the resistors?

On my 900, in parallel to the rear signals. I created a couple little sub segments with bullet connectors at each end, allowing me to just plug in the resistors. Then I mounted the resistors to the frame, behind the side pods to get air over them

Sounds good. Now i gotta figure out where and how to mount them. Its parked outside and i dont have a cordless drill (wanted to drill holes in the headlight ears). I do have some smallish p clamps. Was thinking of temporarily mounting them somewhere at the front on the trellis. Any ideas for a cheap, temporary, bolt on rig for my front signals? I suppose i could remove the ear bracket thingy but thats a helluva pain just to drill two small holes. I say temporary bc i am moving soon to where i can properly do the work but i just registered it and in NY i have 10days to get it inspected.

Put them under the seat with your rear signal wiring. you don't need a resistor on each corner, just one for L and one for R.
i just have mine ziptied to some other wiring. No need to get all fancy about it. Never had any problem with them over heating (until i put my battery in backwards that is).

Yep - just a pair, one for each side. I wired mine in to the tail so I could hide the wiring beter. As mentioned I mounted them behind the pods towards the back of original monsters, with the wires running along the sub-frame tubes - sorta stuffed under where I could

So I went to the auto store and picked up an electronic flasher relay (Tridon EP 35). The flashers now blink at a normal rate. BUT, if I flip the switch to signal, say left (or right) the corresponding side lights up very well but the other side that wasnt activated by the switch blinks with about half the bulbs lit.

Did I purchase the wrong relay? I thought just a new elec relay would solve this issue...
Do I now need to install resistors or just get a different relay??

Diodes on each side from the flasher will fix that.  Sometimes that happens.

memper

ok thanks Howie. Wish it were as simple as just getting a different relay. Alas...

If you order one of those flashers from the other post I put the link in, you don't  need resistors. I ordered one yesterday. We'll see how it goes and I'll reply back ASAP.

Yes let me know. The flasher I got has the same number on the plugs though (49,49,31). So I'm curious if that flasher works with your LEDs.

It's a bit of a crap shoot as to how well electronic flasher will work with aftermarket LEDs.  A different brand flasher might work. This one usually does  http://www.ca-cycleworks.com/bmle-04  though it is a little pricy.  You can also go the resistor route or, like I said, diodes.  What you are experiencing is feedback through the relay.

memper

Yeah I know...
Im returning my tridon and ordering the one from that link. "says" it dont need resistors. We'll see if ithandles thebleed over. I know that some relays have diodes and stuff intedgrated but cant seem to find them now. Had one on my last build project.
