Hi  :)

I seam to have a problem whit my headlight ... it's really dim ...to the point of almost not seeing any light even at night

I've change the regulator this weekend and it still doesn't work properly

when I dissemble the headlight I didn't find anyting suspicious and the light bulb itself seam to be OK  although I never tough the thing was that small!

The hi-beam work perfectly and all the connections seams to be OK

any Idea of the origin of the problem ?  I it just the light bulb still work but less effectively since it's old and used ?[coffee]

Replace the bulb.  I've had a few go bad over the past year, low beam only and I couldn't tell by looking at them.

tanks  [thumbsup] do you have the spec on the bulb ...is it someting I can find at a "normal" store  or I have to find it on the internet ?

Dirty Duc

I believe them all to be H4 bulbs. (yours is older than mine, so I can't be positive)

three prongs in back? with three tabs around the metal ring?  H4.  Available at any auto shop (supposedly moto ones are better, but I run the ones from the auto shop because you can get them in pairs).

I also find that the expensive ones that claim to put out better light do indeed light up the darkness better than the "regular" ones.

tanks  for the advice .... I'll take out the bulb just make sure to get the whrigth one  [thumbsup]  I'll keep an update on how it goes  [Dolph]

H4 bulb, quite common, often called a 9003 in the US, maybe Canada too.  If you want to check the bulb first you should get some resistance between the prong the white wire connects and the prong where the black wire connects.  Infinity is a blown filament.  If you get oil from your fingers on the bulb it is likely to fail unless you clean the bulb with alcohol.

The bright bulbs are GREAT, but they do burn out faster. It is something to consider depending on how many hours you log on your bike. Since you can get them in pairs, it might not be that big of a deal to you.

Dirty Duc

Yeah, I put miles on it... but I prefer being able to see at night to any savings in buying fewer headlight bulbs.

Curiously, after I tangle whit the wires of the headlamp it resuscitated itself    :o but the plastic of the connector of the headlight look all burn up  and melt

My headlight was dim since 2 week ago and my reegulator caught on fire ( real fire!!!) I think I know why now.

It was probably a short in the connector and since the headlight wasn't working the regulator add to many power so it overheated...I think   ;D
