I was going to hold off on introducing myself until I actually owned a Monster, but figured that since I might start posting some questions soon I should probably do so now.

Though I don't currently own a Monster I fully intend to by Sep.-Oct.  I would be in the market right now but a move scheduled for this summer would make for bad timing.  This will be my first street bike and a used Monster fits the bill for me both aesthetically and financially.

Honestly, one of the biggest driving forces for me to chose the Monster line-up is the active online and local (SF Bay Area) communities.  Other bikes I was considering (Buell, Triumph, etc.) seemed to have a much less active owner base.  Having owned a few "enthusiast" cars in the past (Buick Grand National, WRX, Corrado), I really grew to love the online discussions and local meets/events.  I'm really looking foreword to fill that current void with the bike.  I'm really excited to get to know many on the board as a whole as well as the local MOB members.

Back to lurking and learning as much as I can about the models before I take the plunge...

Congrats.  Judging by your avatar, it looks like you picked up a 696?  Reading a teaser about that bike is what got me interested in the Monster line as a whole.  Since this will be my first street bike however, I don't trust myself enough to buy new and not drop it.   Undecided

What area of the east bay are you in, and if you don't mind me asking, where did you buy the 696?

Yes.  It's a 696.  This is not just my first Ducati, but my first motorbike ever.  I'm sometimes too confident, but really don't like used bikes.  So I bought new and had the dealer, Ace Motorsports in Concord, install the Speedy Moto frame sliders.  I'm in San Ramon.

Thanks all for the welcoming.

Msincredible,  I thought about attending a local even before but abstained out of fear that I would then rush to buy.  I'll just have to suck it up and quit being antisocial I guess...
