Ride ??? for you
«

Ok. In my prior job I used to move all over the country. Iowa, CO, Ok, Ga, ect ect ect.
When I lived in Atlanta and in Tulsa they both had killer bike nights.
They loved to due huge rides at night. I can remember going to rides with 50 guys on any given weekend night.
So I wonder if any of you would like to due a night ride. Like meet at 9p and ride till midnight.
Maybe this is stupid but I was thinking it would be fun.
Maybe a stop for a beer and steak in the middle or before the ride would be cool.
meet at 7:30 or 8. Eat dinner and roll.
So reply and let me know what you think. Good or Bad
Thanks

Cherub used to do stuff like that by himself every night, sans the steak.
Drinking and riding isn't my cup o' tea.

the sauce as you know

I've never been much for riding at night, except when I was living in Vegas and Phoenix, when that was the only time it was cool enough to ride
I may be swayed, however.

Actually I did and was in the neighborhood. 99 i was going to school at 81st and Lewis (ORU) and 1998 - 2000 or so I lived at 71st and memorial on the other side of town. Small world, and Southern Hills is NICE.
However I didn't ride at that time so I never did any rides at night, I probably would be game for ride here. However in Tulsa all rodes are straight and it doesn't matter how dark or drunk
you are you can probably make it home. I have enough issues in twisties in Daylight so dusk or dark probably not for me.

I never thought I would miss Tulsa but there are some cool things there. We would ride to to Hallet and race. I bought my first R6 from Sam Mcdonald
he is the owner of K&N Yamaha.
I can understand why a night ride is hit or miss. I think I will plan one ride for now and will contact those who have told me they are interested.
Thanks for the replys and PMs

I think Sam taught my MSF course (or one of the Mcdonald's). Doesn't the story go they started K&N filters and sold it off and who ever bought them made them who they are today?
I aways wanted to ride Hallet track, that area of Oklahoma is my stomping ground. remember playing Hallet in little league.

Yes he was part of K&N in Cali. I was told that he had one of the first Yamaha dealers in the US.
Hallet is cool. Sam's son is a AMA racer now just like is dad. His name is Tyler.

'Nuther Okie here ... lived in Tulsa / Stillwater / OKC for the better part of 25 years .. moved to CO in 1996 from T-town. there are parts of OK I miss, but I definitely don't miss the humidity
I'd be up for night rides here and there, but my only reservation is the few times I've done it before, I've seen critters on the mountain roads (deer, etc). Nearly hit one head-on the last time I was up there, and haven't been back since. I'm just sayin -- if we do it, we need to be extra careful...

Back when I first met my wife I worked 2nd shift at my job and got home around midnight. She'd be there waiting for me and we'd go up into the canyons two up for a night-time tour. They were some of the best rides of my life and I'll always remember winding through the twistys with not another soul for miles. Of course it was also very special because we were together.
On one ride up near evergreen we had a full moon and could see quite well, we came out of a thick forested area into a valley with a large meadow and there were about 40 elk in the process of crossing the road. As soon as I saw them I turned off the lights and slowed to a walk. We rolled up into the middle of the heard and stopped. I shut off the engine and we both sat there in silence while the elk walked all around us in the moonlight! We waited until the last one had passed before we started the bike up and moved on. It was an absolutly incredible and eerie experience.
Riding at night can be amazing in the right context, but personally I don't see myself doing a kamikaze group ride in the hills at night...
sorry.
