Your chop should not be even close to the cable lock...are you sure you doing it right? Or maybe i dont understand ur question.
Try searching for the tailchop tutorial with lots of pics or even youtube

i have searched and searched but all the tutorials are for newer monsters or don't say how the seat-lock cable was got around (for lack of better grammar). pre-2000 monsters have a seat-lock cable that is threaded through the back of the frame and looped out the back end, so you have to get it out of the frame and turn it back under the seat...

That explains it...
I have recently been acquainted with an 851 framed monster... tail already chopped... I'll pm the workaround.

I've cut it off my early M900 and will re-locate and get welded on somewhere 'nicer'. Chopped back end will look cleaner and symetrical without it on

Post it up here!
It is significantly less secure than the OEM setup. I feel uncomfortable discussing it out here for the googles to find.

Hope this makes since/helps.

Reach in with a hooked bit of wire and hook the hole in the plastic part of the latch where the cable attaches.

I did this as well. Works like a champ. I can snap a pic of the finished product and post it for you if you want.
