I want to replace my black metal heat shield on my 2012 1100evo for carbon for the looks and to keep my leg cooler. Can anyone recommend where to buy one in stock? And is the DP worth the $100 over the other brands? I don't want it to yellow over time. [beer]

This any good?

http://www.motostarz.com/cdt-elite-series-carbon-fiber-exhaust-mid-pipe-heat-shield-ducati-monster-696-796-1100.html

That brand is carried by the board sponsors here

I think I read some where on this board that the spacers, or not having any under the heat guard has some thing to do with the yellowing besides the Suns ultra violet light.

The same heat shield on my exhaust is very yellow/brown, the CF skin of the exhausts cans are also slowly changing color while all the other pieces are perfect still. I wipe down all the CF on my bike with protectant and keep it garaged and covered. I think it has to do with the CF being to close to the heat of the exhaust and maybe cooking the piece?
I may buy another heat shield because I have since ceramic coated the exhaust pipes and I noticed there is a little less heat felt from the metal pipes, this might save the next heat shield?

The CF heat shield defiantly does its job protecting my leg from heat vs the metal shield/ branding iron that it came with. I purchased it from one of the sponsors with 10% off member discount.

The pipes are just polished with mothers wheel polish....and yes it took forever but it was worth it. The exhaust is the GP slip-on from comp werkes and the CF heat guard was $75ish minus 10% and free shipping for mentioning ur a member of the forum. Shift-tech shipped fast and I'll be buying more parts from them in the future.

Did you take them off to polish on a wheel? Or did you use a buffing wheel on a drill?

I used the mothers powerball on a drill with the pipes still on the bike Nd just masked everything off with newspaper for the splatter. I did the top header under the seat by hand.
