So want I am looking to hear is anyones best guess at how I bent both valves in my vertical cylinder cracked a guide into 4 pieces and cracked the head around the broken guide. Wait for it wait for it without ever removing my belts. I had just replaced both valve seals on that cylinder so I am sure it was something I did but if the belts never moved how did I get the timing off for it to make contact? Also before I ever even thought about cranking it I checked all my timing marks and turned it by hand without any binding.

Sorry to hear.  Unfortunately, I have no idea what happened if it did not jump time.  Is the timing still correct?

My guess is the collets weren't seated properly, they can be a bit fiddly.

I had gotten to the end of my rope with what was going so I brought it to my local guru thinking I was missing something or somehow the timing was off. He said that it was spot on.  I feel as though I have lucked out. I found a complete matching V2 vertical head with valves, guides everything there for $200 plus the gasket set for $40. Should have it back on the road for around $500 I'm guessing.

yeah my only guess as well is something with the collets. thats the only way the valves can drop, if the collets weren't seated properly. or maybe the valve adjustment clearances were just waaaaay too loose or something
