just buy it, it's easier to ask forgiveness than beg for permission.
get your balls out of her purse while you're in there getting the bank book too. cheeky

Yeh, yeh.

Went and had a look and it a beauty; a clean and well maintained virgin.

He seemed unwilling to negotiate on price but kept on telling me he needed the money as he'd lost a lot on shares.

He recons he has someone interested in Sydney but that might just be trying to gain some power in the negotiation.

I'll give him a call tomorrow and tell him to give me a ring if he wants to talk turkey. I'll let him know I have the $$ sitting in my account and can pay cash on pick-up.

$16K seems a lot for a "stocker". According to Red Book that's "top dollar" so I'm more inclined to be at the other end of the spectrum, as you might suspect.

If he rings I'll offer $10K cash and pick up same day. No harm in trying  Smiley

it has the testastretta engine which is nice, and the fact it's stock is good from the viewpoint that it hasn't been messed with. on the downside if you decide to put an exhaust it's more difficult to tune unless you get a DP kit with the ecu. i'd say 13.5k if it's as tidy as you say, 10k? if he was going to take that it would have been snapped up by a shop already.
good luck though.
must get a ride in one day soon hey mick?Huh??

for bikes like that where the guy is dreaming

you can say something like this

look i know this might sound like an insult as its well under what you are asking but i am prepared to pay $x

if you dont have any luck selling then give me a call and i'll take it for $x

you would be surprised how many times people get sick of the timewasters or the wife nags in his ear
and you get that call

if you dont then no harm

works quite well for people going overseas , getting married or buying houses

i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.

Agreed.

I was going to use the "If you, then I" approach. Something like this:

Subject to a QLD roadworthy and REVs check I am willing to offer $XX to be paid in cash on pick up. I can pick up any time this week if the offer is accepted.

I'll then tell him I'm looking at other bikes but would be willing to hold off until he has had some time to mull it over with the missus!

I'm not desperate for a bike (I have 3 in the garage) but if I can get it at the right price then it would be a nice addition. Plan is to swap over some of the bling off the S2R then sell it to a good home. I, however, wouldn't be in a rush and could see how it goes.

That would get me a reasonably blinged up S4Rs for a couple of grand change over.

Worst case I get an Ohlins or Wilbers for the S2R and redo the front forks to suit my weight (and perhaps lose some of that if I can).

Agreed, when selling up everything before taking off....I got so f@&$king annoyed of people offering half of what items were worth... I understand everyone is after a bargain, however also remember how annoying you are being....

I sold my S4RS.... With a repairable write off badge for much more than your $10k offer...yes it took 3-4 weeks to sell, in the middle of winter.....

Had many other items that people offered half or 3/4 of the price...ended up selling many for more than I actually paid for them on Flea Bay

I'll give you $3k for your S2R.....cash... Give me a call  Grin

Well said Shayne, I bet you enjoyed that mate..........!
Whoever bought your bike got a dam good machine. If you put a price on an item, thats it i feel.....sorta reminds me of the vultures waiting for their prey to die.
Enjoy your trip, am sure you will. and PLEASE keep us posted with photos along the way. Definately a new thread is needed for that i say....... waytogo

Agreed if some clown wastes your time getting you to take photos of particular parts, then follows with endless questions before making an appointment and showing up an hour late (if at all) and at the end of all that offers you a ridiculous amount that pisses me right off (been through it twice before).

Also been stuck with something of value that I didn't even get an offer on and I would have pretty much given it away to a good bloke (or shelia) that would have made use of it. Better to receive an offer straight up and refuse than be stuck with gear and no-one even making the call. Sometimes.

Well are you guys saying you'll pay me top dollar for my S2R?

If that's the case I can offer the guy the $16000 he wants, but talk is cheap.

My current offer is $12000 cash right now no strings attached. I took one look at the bike and offered him a bunch of advise given he had no idea. Some of the "tyre kickers" are asking for compression checks or wanting to pay with PayPal etc. He knows I appreciate the bike and would look after it. I made two offers and then left him my No. and did suggest I'd be willing to talk.

Unfortunately I haven't got an endless supply of $$ and was valuing my 2006 S2R at $8000. That's for a bike that has everything carbon (shift tech), big brakes, all the Rizoma bits you can mention, Ducati ECU, full Remus exaust, RAM tubes & KN pods, quick release rear sprocket, fender eliminator, custom handlebars and more. Have all the original parts and was going to throw in the ECU tuning software to boot.

So again, talk is cheap!

Anyone happy to give me $12K cash for my bike I'd be happy paying the dude in Toowoomba $16K for a stock bike that'll need thousands to get back to the same state.

So who's up for it?
