so my throttle is not very smooth or easy to twist and it doesnt snap back.. if i let it go it will actually stay where its at sometimes.
what should i look at as to what might be causing it to be so stiff?

Sounds like the routing of the throttle cables isn't good.

Did you flip the bars down, or back up?

Could also be sticky between the throttle tube and bar, grip dragging on barend or mirrors or throttle housing.
Also may need some cleaning/grease in the throttle assembly itself.

If you disconnect the throttle at the grip and manually pull the cables does the throttle snap shut? If so look closely at your cable routing or for something dragging on the throttle .
If not it could be the throttle linkage is gummed up.
good luck

Did you put new bar ends on just before the problem started?  Did you perhaps slide the rubber grip over to clean up the looks or to fit new bar ends?  Maybe you replaced the grips lately?

well i took it all apart on my handle bars... so there are the two cables connecting to the throttle... well the one in the front i can pull and it snaps back but the rear one i can pull or anything.. am i supposed to be able to?
i dont really know how these things are supposed to work.

What about cable lubrication?  I have a 95 900, and the throttle snaps back nicely.  Cable maintenance might go a long way...

..or it could be one of those other things.

the one that snaps bak is the pull cable and the other is the return or push cable. you should only be able to pull on the return cable when the pull cable is pulled.

It sounds like the cable and linkage is fine I would look carefully at the cable routing at the throttle housing or at the grip itself. It is common to have a grip drag on the bar, barend, etc and cause the problem.

the cable at the back is the return cable.  make sure the adjuster for this is wound all the way in, giving maximum freeplay.  adjust the front cable (opening) to give the freeplay you like.

over adjusted return cables is often a cause of throttles not moving.  they often won't be stiff as such, just won't snap back, etc.

apart from that grip rubbing on bar end or rubbing on the housing at the cable housing end.

sounds like your cables could be rooted.  i don't like lubing them as they're nylon lined and i think lubing them can be a short term solution, longer term issue ime.
