I think it's about time the Maine riders got organized for some groups rides. I'm proposing a monthly ride, the 2nd Sunday of every month, starting May 11th. I know Crumar is in. Obsessed?, Darkside, Supero, HereComesTrouble, Econoliner, Kr4sh, hangin_biposto, Turbodude, MIXER, whoever else I'm forgetting, and anyone from away who's in the area... There's enough of us around to have a solid ride every month.

I've got a good route for the first ride and don't mind leading if people can keep up. > Someone else can pick the route and lead for ride #2. Two meeting places for those a little out of town. In Portland, the Back Bay parking lot by Hannaford seems to be a convenient meeting place. 10:00am. We'll meet anyone farther away at the Park and Ride in Gray around 10:30-10:45. I'm going to guess round trip from Portland will be 3 hours not including time for stops, but I can certainly modify the route to accomodate a longer or shorter ride.

I think 4-5 people have already committed...

Here's roughly the route I was planning: . Crumar and I did something similar to this last weekend and the roads were all in suprisingly good shape considering the winter we had. There's some great scenery, a bunch of lakeside villages that are nice to ride through and some really fun sections of road.

I'd be coming down from Kingfield on Saturday and the weather's not looking very good.  If it's not too miserable, I'll be there.

Nice Dan, it would be nice to meet you.

If you don't make it down this weekend, I'll definately be riding around Belgrade, Farmington, and Kingfield this summer.  We'll have to meet up for a run North on 27 to Sugarloaf sometime - assuming those giant frost heaves are gone.  I love that road.

The frost heaves are gone but the road is starting to get beat up.  Have you ever followed 27 north to the border?  If not, you're missing a treat.  Fresh pavement, very twisty along Chain of Ponds, nice scenery.  We'll have to do it.

I'm in!

A bit chilly today, but tomorrow should be nicer. Forecast I saw says sunny and pushing 70.

And don't forget to call you mom!

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Hey guys,

How did the ride go?  I wanted to make it out but being mother's day and all....no go.

Any stories/pics from the ride?

the ride was great!  there was four of us, the weather was basically perfect.  i got a couple photos but can't seem to figure out how to post em up here......when we got back and were in south portland, a monster pulled up behind us, couldn't make out the color, but we turned right and they kept going--anyone on here?

Boxomatic, any chance you could post up the route we took? I'd really like to go hit some of those scenic outlooks when I've got my camera with me.

Oh, and that ride was fantastic. Mixer made that comment at the Lake Store in Norway "Its a shame the weather is so bad," and we all just looked at him. Good stuff.

That was a seriously tasty sammich, too.

Yeah, great ride guys.  Obsessed, that first spot where we got the shot of Mt. Washington was on Megguier Hill Rd. in Poland.  If you look at it on a map its the hill between Tripp Pond and Thompson Lake..  Honestly one of the best views on the road - lake on each side of road and Mt Washington off in the distance.

I think is the exact route we took.

Crumar sent me a couple of pictures, I've just been too lazy by the time I get home to post them.  I'll get them up tomorrow.

Btw, next ride date is June 8th.  Put it on your calendars.  Hopefully we can get a few others to join in.  I believe Crumar has a route picked out and will be leading.  Right Crumar?

Gotta do a recon ride tomorrow. If that works out, I have an idea or two.

Then it'll depend on the weather.
