Monster update:
Have a bunch of parts ordered, and they should show up soon.

Also, dropped my exhaust and re-wrapped it. The wrap is nice and even now.

Norton update:

Installed a new throttle cable. (which involves taking off the tank and dissembling both carbs  bang head)

Internal bits for the Amal carbs

Rebuilt switches and throttle tube housing.

I am just planning on messing with the stock clamps for right now. Appreciate the offer though. Later, I plan on designing my own triple clamp system. Put up a thread when you get your IMA clamps installed. I would like to see them.

Will do.  Ive got a build thread started, but I got the forks way before I was ready to start tearing into it, so it's going to be a much slower thread than the one youve got here...(which is a fine thread Ill add, I always look forward to your updates)  Maybe Ill take a page out of your book and throw some unrelated projects in the mix...in my case the CJ-7 frame up and some scuba gear stuff...

http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=58777.msg1085811#msg1085811

Should have some updates next week as parts are in the mail.  Thats a sharp looking tank on the Norton btw..

Just checked out your thread, looking forward to those updates next week. I think its a good idea to throw random stuff into build threads. Keeps things interesting and lets people know what else you have in the works.

Thanks its my design, but I can't take credit for the paint work. A friend of mine did the tape layout and fade. I can only manage solid color and stripes.

STOP!!!!

I could be wrong, but I worked as a teardown bi*ch in a tranny shop for a few summers...double check youve got the left hand slider in there right...looks like your not gonna be able to catch reverse (not to mention having a fork alignment issue).

EDIT:

My bad.  I just remembered the reverse idler sides on the intermediate shaft...not a sync'd gear.

As you were! Cheesy

You are actually right. I made a mistake, but I caught it before I sealed up the transmission. Also uploaded the wrong photo.  Embarrassed

This is how it should look and this is how I have it now:

Bike update:

Finally have some parts showing up.

Stupid Question
Can anyone tell my why you have to install the clutch pressure plate in a specific position? Guessing it might have something to do with how the assembly is balanced, but I would like to know for sure. Thinking about cutting my own pressure plate later on.

Reference:
Install the pressure plate (12) so that the mark on the end of one of the clutch spring posts is aligned with the marks on the corresponding pressure plate hole, indicated by the triangle.

The alignment of the clutch pressure plate has to do with the alignment of the teeth that engage the hub.  Slipper clutches do without the alignment as they have no teeth to engage the hub.

Got it thanks for the information.

The Charger going to be a pavement eating resto mod when I get through with it.  Look more or less stock, but with modern running equipment and around 600 HP Evil

Monster update:

Made some mock up brackets to hold the headlight. Figured out the front turn signals. I wired up my running lights to function as my turn signals. Really happy with how it turned out.

Will make a different set of brackets before its all said and done. Just trying to get all the parts where I want them and working at the moment.

Turn Signal Demo (Apoligies for the quality, Headlight is really bright):

I doubt the signals are very visible, but I could care less. Just enough to make my bike legal - Police

Got a cover, so I will stop putting my foot in my clutch.  Dolph

Cut the old headlight brackets off my lower triple. Going to take the front end apart and have both clamps powder coated.

Help me make up my mind. Huh?

Looking for suggestions for a quick change rear sprocket / carrier and hub setup.

Kinda hate the (flower)shape of the stock hub on the rear sprocket. Also, some first hand accounts on different sprocket ratios would be very helpful. Did you gear your bike up or down? How different does your bike ride? Let me know.

Something like this:

2007 S4RS Black Termis

Monster update:

Did you gear your bike up or down? How different does your bike ride? Let me know.

Did the standard drop the front sprocket down 1 tooth to 14 on my 07 S4RS (stock is 15/43), since the bike was actually drag limited on top speed. The result with the addition of termis and the DP ECU is that the front wheel is "very light" under acceleration in the first three gears. I have heard that there can be some clearance issues with changing the rear sprocket. If I had a choice I would bring the rear up a tooth or two and leave the front alone for a slightly less wheel lifting gear ratio

While contemplating the gear change I developed this quick excel spreadsheet to aid in sprocket selection. Sorted by ratio

Front   Rear   Ratio
15   38   2.533
15   39   2.600
15   40   2.667
14   38   2.714
15   41   2.733
14   39   2.786
15   42   2.800
14   40   2.857
15   43   2.867
14   41   2.929
15   44   2.933
15   45   3.000
14   42   3.000
15   46   3.067
14   43   3.071
15   47   3.133
14   44   3.143
15   48   3.200
14   45   3.214
15   49   3.267
14   46   3.286
15   50   3.333
14   47   3.357
14   48   3.429
14   49   3.500
14   50   3.571
