999 didn't have radials?
If not the wheels will work.
999 wheels will not work as they used 5 bolt rotors.
Not planning on using the 999 wheel, just the Showa forks with the TIN coating. Understand the rotors will not work, though I wish they did. Just curious as to whether my S4 wheel will work with 999 forks...

Is the difference in the wheel or the forks?
I know the rotor offset is different.

interestingly enough. the new 796 rotors are 5 bolt 10mm offset not the normal 15mm offset that almost all other 5-bolts are.
so you could run the 999 wheel with monster forks and 10mm offset 5bolt rotors from the 796

You could fit some 749/999 10-spokers, but it's not a bolt-on.
Rear axle is bigger (30mm IIRC) and front wheel has 5-bolt disc mounting.
If you're correct Speeddog, what would it take to get a 749/999 rear mounted? I have a 999 front end (wheel, fork and rotors) from my S2R that I could part over with the Speedymoto triple. Just curious as to how much work would be needed to get that 749/999 rear tire to work.

How so? The 848/Hyper has the SSS while the S4 is DSS, right?

the s2r is the same as the all non-large axle SSS.
Anchorism just swapped 796 wheels with an S4R

He's already got 5-spokers, same units as ST4.

As far as the rear wheel goes....
**9 rear axle is 30mm, so a spacer could take care of the wheel itself.
You would need to have the **9 rotor, as it's a 5-bolt.
But it's a 240mm rotor, and it's mounted a good bit further outboard, so then you need the **9 caliper bracket.
Caliper may not clear the swingarm due to the configuration.
Perhaps it's all for naught anyway, as the wheel may be too wide... I don't have a **9 in the house to measure.

Doesn't the S4 speedo read off the rear rotor bolts?

'02 S4, yes.
So there'd be the need for a speedo healer too.
'01 S4 is cable drive speedo off of the front wheel.

Seems like far too much reworking and tweaking to get to fit. Might just save and bite bullet and get red PVR wheels or keep stock 5 spoke
