Just a quick question for anyone in the know. I did a little research before posting, but to no avail. Does anyone know off the top of their head if Ducati changed the seat design substantially post-2000's? My 2004 M620D is in dire need of a new seat and I would like to get a used one off another Monster. One that I'm looking at is supposedly off a 2000 M900. The part numbers are different, but sometimes these things don't matter so much.

2004 M620D Seat = 595.2.020.3C
2000 M900 Seat = 595.1.026.1A

Let me know what you think, or if you have any suggestions. Thanks guys.

93-99...

00 up...excluding the current version.

That seat should work.

At some point ~2004/2005, the seats were equipped with a permanently installed latch post.
Prior to that, it was removable.
That '00 M900 seat should drop right on.

Perfect. I'm sick of seeing the guts of my seat. I'll pick up that one from the 2000. Thanks again.

They changed the frame in '02 (?), that didn't affect the seat?

Nope.

The seat cutout and the latch post all stayed the same.

I wasn't aware they made the latch post part of the base.

More on the interchangeability.....

The latch loop from the '99 and earlier seat can be installed on a '00 and later (removable post) seat.
So you can fit the late model seat on an early bike.
The seat/tank interface won't be good.
The OEM seat on my '98 had turned to wood, and a '00 seat is now in it's place.

Fairly often there's a bit of fiddling to get the seat to latch properly.
Shim with fender washers between the latch and the frame if you can't get the seat to latch with normal effort.
Shim with hard rubber between the seat and frame if it latched but is loose and rattly.

'Won't be good' is kind of an understatement.  ;D

i have an 04 DP gel seat on my s2r1000, and it was on my 03 620 before that. by extrapolation, ... they should be the same from at least 03 to the end of the S2R era...
